Hi! I have second thoughts in posting this question, but anyway I managed to collect all the guts to ask this... A friend of mine wants to be model. Can you give me tips on how to be a model? She’s 18 years old. She’s 5’6 and very raw in modeling. She’s really interested.

Have you Googled it??? Here are two links that stand out. http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Model and http://www.howtobeamodel.org/

There is too much direct flash and while there are many ways to correct this try something simple like placing a piece of nose tissue over the flash. You may need a fold or two depending, but it will cut the glare. Beautiful candles by the way!

I've been doing a lot of experimenting lately. Unfortunately, it's caused a problem this morning.

I go to the San Diego Zoo once a week, and that was this morning.

I usually shoot RAW + JPG although I've never done anything with the RAW other than summarily delete them.

I accidentally had my Canon 550D set for RAW only this morning and came home with 158 pictures from a two-hour trip.

I tried opening all of them in Corel PaintShop Pro X4. It crashed.

I tried opening all of them in Photoshop CS5.1. It crashed.

I downloaded Photoshop CS6 Beta and tried opening all of them there. It crashed.

I was able to open all of them very easily in Lightroom 4 and easily export them as JPGs in a batch export process. Took a while though. Certainly says a lot for taking RAW + JPG out in the field.

Anyone else doing something unique or is this just an anomaly that I created for myself this morning?

Canon recommends the software that came in the box - Digital Photo Professional - it even has a Batch Process. Picasa works too and both are free.

For The Sake Of Argument - can we all just say:

As a US Citizen we have certain guaranteed rights and these rights cover us as photographers when taking photo of anything other than federal secrets or by violating someones privacy.

With this said, if a law enforcement officer is uninformed and asks you to move on you can either try to educate them or leave to come back another day rather than be detained and wait for the law to prevail which could mean a day in court.

Rights don't make it right - Better judgment does.

First let me say that I believe capturing beautiful photos takes a talent....I am sure, I lack that talent. I love photography, but the more I read, the more I study, the more I watch, the more confused I get. I take notes, I set my camera, I focus, I click.... I get pictures! Lacking.. crisp color, crisp focus,...I see your posted ART and they are beautiful. I believe it is all operator...I have good equipment, maybe not what you use, but I use a Canon 5DII. I have heard many of you say...read and understand your camera...I am beginning to think it is beyond my abilities...... Is it really this hard?

A) MOST photographs have been enhanced in some way, and
B) you will only get better if you keep trying. Shoot anything and everything experimenting along the way. My first stop - try adjusting the White Balance getting used the different options then venture into other concepts. Learn one thing well then learn another, but don't give up. Just Shoot!

I like the idea of a carry card, but what laws protect me? Shouldn't you list them? This looks more like a Boy Scout Pledge Card than something I can take with me to a court of law. So what are the laws? (I'm new so if I missed them please point me to the correct post)
