There seems to be a lot out there about shooting in manual mode. The impression is that "real photographers" shoot this way....and that you know better what exposure you want then what the camera would set for you.

What is gained by using this method, as compared to making use of the shutter, aperture or program modes, which are certainly faster then twirling command dials? If adjustments are required, there is always the exposure compensation button.

I use the spot meter much of the time and move the focus point to lighter or darker sections to adjust the exposure. Easier than fiddling with the controls. Not all scenes are conducive to this technique.

Does anyone have a small attachment to fit on a pop-up to bounce the flash or filter it for red-eye reduction. Portability, size, weight, convenience, and cost are all important.

I made bounce adaptor for my P7100 last year. The problem was it flashed my eyes after about 50 shots. I ended up seeing an eye doctor.

The picture was taken in Cornwall earlier this year. About 10-15 minutes after sunset, at f22 on tripod with a 4 stop nd filter. I was trying for a very long exposure to blur the water. What i got was a too-dark picture without a lot of color. I shoot Raw, so i figured there was still a lot of info buried in the darkness. Didn't process the shot until few nights ago, mostly using adobe camera raw with some photoshop and a final touch of nik. I was, frankly surprised at what i was able to pull out, admittedly adding lot of warmth to the sunset in ACR.

Now the question...which version is better. In the first version i tried for a more balanced look to bring out the details in the rocks. In the second version i darkened the rocks and brought up the sunset in an attempt to draw the eye into the shot. Does either image do anything? HONEST comments.
The picture was taken in Cornwall earlier this yea... (show quote)

This was taken on the Greek island of Rhodes. I could not resist as I love the doors in Europe. Doors, windows and garden gates can be great photo ops.

Is there a color version?

Photo taken Yesterday at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston West Virginia.

I plan on going back there for a photo shoot in a month or so.

I wanted to shoot something unique about this place. There are tons of pictures if you care to search. There are no pictures that I am aware of with two nurses standing at the front entrance.
Hey... I do portraits.

I love the name... It's so politically incorrect....

Just bought a Tokina 100mm F2.8 Macro D for my Nikon D90 and the auto focus will not work. This was a internet buy from a ebay seller in Hong Kong.
Any comments or input would be appreciated.

Ask for a replacement or your money back. Treat e-bay China just like any other merchant. A legit dealer will want to make it right.. if not.. what have you got to loose.
