At a work site, I have won some "points" that give me the option to get at no charge to me

Nikon D5600 with Nikkor 18-55 f/35.5.6 and 70-300 f/5-63 lenses plus Nikon Macro Kit Nikkor 40 mm f 2.8 + Nikkor 10-20 mm f/4.5-5.6 lens
or
Nikon D7200 w Nikkor 18-150 f 3.5-56 lens
or
Nikon D7500 w Nikkor 18-150 f 3.5-56 lens

I could probably pay an up charge for the Macro/Landcsape kit with the other cameras

My photography is places, buildings, outdoor stuff, things - not sports.
This will likely be my last photo purchase at my age as I keep things in good shape, a long time. Still use my D 200 without issue, for example.

I have an older Nikkor 28-200 lens

So, what makes the most sense here? Or none of the above?

Thanks

I have done some IR photography with borrowed camera and like the effect, at least in B&W.

An old camera (if reliable and working) is probably the way to go.

My Nikon D200 works fine. I am not unhappy with quality

I am looking at getting an IR camera. I like the effect in black and white and don’t have to necessarily deal with golden light time of day issues, etc.

Nikon has a kit at Costco and presumably elsewhere for 600.00 D3500 with w kit lenses , etc.

I am interested in still photography, typically places and things. Sometimes family. No sports. No interest in video. Display typically on a 8x10 or such video picture frame. Might get a little bigger one someday. Rarely print and if so would be 8x 10 or less.

My thought was to convert the kit camera to ir but maybe 10 years later the technology has improved and the kit camera might be a better camera than the D200. Thus maybe the d200 should be converted. Or I should be thinking of something else.

Can folks opine please and make suggestions. Thanks

Infrared in around Santa Fe. Lots of stuff to photograph there. Los Alamos and Bandelier National Monument are close by and easy to access

I used PS for years but got tired of the expense for my occasional use as a hobby photographer. I have tried several APPS including Corel, GIMP and ON1. Each works but I have never gotten totally comfortable with them.

Trying Affinity last a few days and it seems very PS like.

So for a photographer, not a graphic designer/advertisement creator, who only wants to process photographs (no text, no bizarre effects) is the anything Affinity CAN't DO?

Thanks

I am still not sure I have an answer to my question which is how to process an infrared capture

I have an infrared camera.

To process as black and white, I need only open the captured file in appropriate program like PS, On1 etc and add a black and white filter or desaturate or convert to black and white?

No channel swapping, etc?

Yes /No?

Thanks

I guess my Nikon D200 is a bit older than I remember. Came out in 2005. Still works well for me.

However, CF cards getting (somewhat) hard to find it appears (none art Frys or Micro Center).

Some are (I presume) much faster than 2005. Nikon has tested a limited number of cards on their website that are known to be compatible. Others "might be"

So I don't get totally stuck with camera (but no digital ) film, can anyone comment on "sweet spot", price/size/guaranteed to work wise. A 4TB card is more than I ever use in a day and I always backup at nite or after a shooting session .

Thanks

Whatever, you do , move a backup off site so that flood, fire or theft doesn't cause an issue
