Simplify, simplify, simplify! (The KISS principle)

So many folks seem to look at photography as a mathematical problem to be solved. Lens specs are only really important when you acquire it, and when you select the one most appropriate for the subject matter at hand; your only real choices are: do I need a longer or shorter focal length, larger or smaller aperture.

Mount a lens, look through it, and if it doesn't give you what you want, mount a different one. Don't confuse yourself with 35mm equivalencies, you'll go nuts thinking about it.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, (The grateful principle) Been reading all this stuff and thinking, geez, can someone please put it in simple terms...BINGO! You spok!e and the lights came on!

Try a wolf hybrid--he eats better than we do (and I don't mean the Starbucks cup)!

Thank you all for your help and suggestion. I'm her Mom so of course I thinks she's pretty, but I'll have to let her see the comments so she hears that from others. At sixteen most teenage girls can only find their faults. She has had several boys tell her that they would date her if she did not have red hair. Lucky for me she told them that they were stupid jerks. Go away and grow up. She's got a lot of that red hair spirit, much like MWAC has....and okay I'm a red head too.

I like several of them, I do agree that freckles are part of a redhead, but you can lessen them. i see that y'all took out the blemishes and soften the shadows a bit, like it all.

I like the opening of the eyes, but what about the lips, can anyone smooth them out a bit and add a touch of gloss? Maybe make them not look so dry? That's something that stands out, I wish she had had lip gloss on at the time of the picture.

Thank you all very much again, I'm going to let her pick out the things she likes in each photo.

Rach

I personally think there's too much striving for perfection when God (alright and a little DNA) already did a wonderful job. Her lips are just fine. Her eyes are gorgeous! Her smile is amazing!! So what if it all shows in the picture. Say Thank You young lady. You are beautiful. Perfection is an illusion of the eyes of the beholder!

Personally, I love the challenge of shooting INTO the sun, and NOT getting 'lens flares' or artifacts. I don't have any people shots handy that demonstrate that, but here is a 'sun rays' shot (directly into the sun - without the flares or garbage (my goal was the rays... for some inspirational cards & calendars)): http://mercer.smugmug.com/NaturePhotography/Sky-sunset-sundowns-Lightning/Sun-Rays/16024004_gk7K5H/1201231931_MZCr9

This is one, but there is another photographer that is much, much worse.

First reaction: If this were my photo, I would never show it to anyone.

Second reaction: The word "Pro", or professional, means that someone's efforts are their main source of income. A professional poker player has no other significant source of income. Same for a professional boxer, professional actor, or a professional photographer.

I have photography clients, but photography is not my primary source of income. I consider myself a free-lance photographer. My 1040 reflects money earned, and money spent on photography.

If my photos looked like the example presented above, I would not be making any money as a photographer.

I personally think you, Nikonian, could take pictures blindfolded and they would still be phenomenal! I also couldn't picture anyone calling themselves a pro and putting forth that pic in the example but then again...different strokes....I'm not qualified to judge.

Y'all probably know about this site pertaining to HDR but in my learning about HDR I ran across the site and thought I'd share. Great photograph of the Falls!

I like the edit. Wonder what this would look like as a canvas mount done 30x40? Am thinking it would be stunning.

I have to agree with you on that comment mooseyes. It would be absolutely stunning as it's that now in small size.

Ok I made this because i have a really bad back and my desk chair wouldn't allow me to sit in it for more then a hour or so at a time so i made this //// it swings out the way the desktop swivels to make the angle right for however I'm sitting.. so what do you think.. i have some ideas on the next one i make to improve on the design but as for now this one is working

I care for an 86 yr old lady (and her husband) who can only sit comfortably in her recliner and loves to play Bookworm on her computer. This would work wonderful for her. She doesn't like to have to interrupt whatever I'm doing to take the computer off her lap and put it back on! Fantastic idea! Now how do I get one/make one?
