Linda, We're neighbors!
here's my side of the mountain.
Hey- Willard here. Live in Tacoma, Wa. born n raised. first "real" photograph was of Mt. Rainier from the roof of our house. (36 ft. ridge) (sure as hell wouldn't do it now). dad was not happy when he learned where it was taken, but loved the pic. promised not to go up there again. I was ten. he was always taking pics and movies, so I just kind of fell in to it. first award at 14. started selling pics at 15 when I started taking the family portraits at our church for the register. ran several camera stores. opened studio in '70. began freelancing in '74. over 1500 weddings down the years. love 'em. did architectural work in the 70s and early 80s around the country. published in A.R. and Builder's P. and Sunset West. have hade many jobs since the 80s, but have always considered myself to be a photographer first. Spearheaded the start and was first Pres. of the Pierce County Prof. Photog. Assoc. in '73. now travel on 3-4 week trips several times a year for shooting and keeping my brain fresh.
my wife of 49 years doesn't understand my affliction of "seeing in pictures". any one else have this malady?
I am always interested in others' opinions. who wants to stop learning?
glad to meet you all. let's have some FUN!
