Mr. Handsome's mate. These were taken from my back yard at a distance of about a hundred feet. A slight crop on one.
I put out some day old popcorn (two large bags) for the birds, and she ate it------all.
Nice shot of a smart and cunning animal. We had a family of Arctic foxes that us to frequent a job camp on the Muskegs on the B.C. and Yukon border. They got quite tame and friendly.Always looking for handouts which is frowned on but they still got fed quite well.
That is a very cool shot. I really like it.

Thank you tusketwedge for looking and commenting. Seeing an Arctic fox would be a dream come true for me. Don't think that will ever happen in NC.
My foxes are used to seeing me but they are far from tame. The male is a lot more trusting. He has watched me from a distance of not more than 50' and continued eating whatever I had put out. I can sit down and throw slices of bread to him without scaring him off.
I have some theories about how that rumor got started about not feeding wildlife. Large wildlife (bears) could pose a danger, foxes, not so much.

Thank you very much Lame-Duck. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very well done. The alert look and beautiful surrounding are pluses. You captured the spirit of this wild creature.

Thank you very much Carol. So glad you enjoyed seeing the female.
The background is just weeds that are indigenous to the area. I'm letting them grow till late winter to provide natural hiding places and shelter for timid wildlife.

Wish I could take credit for the beauty, but that comes from a higher source.

Thank you gwr. In all the years that I have been seeing this pair of foxes, I have yet to see any kits. That would be the highlight of my day.
