You are playing with a favorite subject of Mine. I like number 4, but I would love to see number 5, in b/w. Oh heck, I like 2 and 3 as well. Great job, good experiment, I am glad you shared. None of these are bad, just I happen to like some better.

I was kneeling down on one knee to get better shots of the front of the cars from a lower perspective. I guess that is why my old legs are sore today.

I photographed a few weddings and was always sore a few days after them from the weird positions I would get in to take photos. I didn't think I was old then... think I would be immobile a few days if I did one now. :)

Really wonderful set of photos. I love photographing at car shows, those old cars are beautiful sculptures, in my mind.

Nice set of photos. I knew he had been here in MI.. and I saw an old high school friend attended a concert a week or three before on the east coast (of US). These are the best photos I have seen from this concert. Great job. (I used to live in the GR area, before moving Up North, near Traverse City)

I don't know that you can, (I have a D7100), but I am not clear why it matters which is in which slot?

I like them too, but, will they be cropped as final product? I do not do that type of work so please, keep my ignorance of that in mind. However, on both of them, when I viewed them, I ended up moving them so in my view, they were cropped to around that breast pocket area of their suits. Seeing more than that, I found distracting. Again, more of my learning of corporate headshots here than questioning your work.

Well done indeed. You have done a far better job mastering HDR than my attempts, to date.

If you were not shooting where you may need the higher buffer, I would say refurbished D7100 (which I recently purchased). I chose that one over the D7200 because the price did matter to me and my research led me to believe what the buffer of the D7200 is not something I needed, so why pay for it. However, with the whales, etc, you may want that buffer, so go with it. I have owned the D80, D90 and now D7100. The learning curve for each upgrade was minimal, you should be fine with two different models.

Lol...it was an adjustment at first (and I've chimped my film cameras more than once accidentally) but I got used to it. In fact, I like just taking a shot and knowing that it's going to be ok; remember negative film is much more forgiving than digital. When in doubt, overexpose. I got into the habit of pre-setting my exposure before I intended to take a picture so I'm never fiddling with the controls or feeling pressure. If I'm unsure, I just open up an extra stop or two and know that my negatives will be that much more bullet proof and dense!

It is always a trade off, or trade on, really. You get a bit more leeway with the film, which you may need, and with digital, you have less leeway, but you have much quicker access to results. It is that quicker access to results that turned me into a manual shooter. My eyes have become very good light meters and I will have the camera settings "correct" before my eyes ever peer through the viewfinder and see the camera's meter results. I don't think I would have gotten to that point as quickly if I was primarily film. Then again, it does not matter how the exposure gets done correctly, as long as it gets there. (Shooting in Manual is more about my ego, I think, than the results).

Back in the early 80s, I was given a Nikon 35mm SLR as a HS graduation gift. In college, I met a photographer who taught me a bit of b&w film developing and I helped out a bit in their darkroom. It would be an adjustment for sure if I used it again, as like most, I am used to immediately "checking" my shot.

Does UHH allow one to "watch" a specific user's posts, or created posts? I would like to see your work when you post it.

No, I didn't even know I could take the camera in until just before it started. Had I realized that he'd be so far back I'd have taken my 105mm lens and gotten a few close ups.

I didn't want to get out of my chair to take any pictures, it was a dinner-show sort of gig...

I understand. Darn those social conventions that say we need to not disturb others enjoyment to get the photos we envision and desire. Do you primarily use film?

He is holding his son's hand. Its obvious he cares for his safety. :) If the car in the foreground didn't have that annoying side mirror so you could see the handhold a bit better, it would be perfect. :)

I like them! I am so used to assuming digital these days, it is nice to see film work (another benefit of joining the HOG). Did you do any close-ups of the singer as he performed?
