It use to be (not so long ago) that cameras and lenses held their value for quite awhile. Then manufacturers begin to put out new cameras 1-2 x year and the camera you bought rather recently is no longer worth near what you paid. So just recently I have changed my habits. I have begun buying new lenses only when the manufacturer discounts it or I buy used. Cameras I still buy new and try to catch an intro discount. There is something about having a new camera...
Crazy like a fox :) I unfortunately buy new (most of the time) and sell used at a great discount. Apparently I'm not so smart so my hobby is quite expensive.
Oh I am nice. I'm getting ready to get another. I want a small rolling bag. Looked at a couple, but they were too big.
I finally posted in CL to give some away for free. LOL Good luck.
Thanks. I have a Think Tank rolling bag- it is domestic airline approved. I don't use it but found out before when I tried to sell it the postage was astronomical! So I use it to store all my vintage lenses.
It calculates ground at 13.97 and about 6 days transit. 3 day priority is 31.50- can you believe that. Anyway box is over 12" dimension so there is a bit of a premium. If still interested I will private message my email address for PayPal and you can give me your mailing address. I will get it in the mail on Monday. I will be in and out the rest of the day but will check for messages from time to time. Thanks.
To Dachsund-Shipping is 18.00 for 3 day express- ground is only 1.50 less. It's a big box that fits the bag well (not too big) but it is over the 12" dimension so there is a premium for that. Postal rates are sooo high. Anyway let me know if you are still interested. I will give you a 5.00 discount on the bag. My primary objective is really to reduce my bags. :)
Just take the lens with you the next time you fly. TSA will tell you, in no uncertain terms, if your lens is radioactive. You may even get to meet a bunch of new friends, too.
If I can use an image SOOC then I am delighted. But more often than not (my) images need to be tweaked. What matters to me is the end result, not how I got there. So I shoot in Raw and Jpeg and do what is needed to ensure the image is to my satisfaction. Getting it close to how I want it in camera is the goal.
I have read both reports- the old Asahi lenses are radioactive and also that there is not enough radioactivity to worry about. So take your pick :) I have several of the old Asahi lenses and I don't worry about using them.
