Wonderful pictures. You are right. Black and white tends to make photos more dramatic.

Took the grandsons to the Peterson Auto Museum and while they enjoyed looking at the cars and displays, I busy shooting(camera, not guns). For what ever reason, I could not remove the P.F. from my 10-20 3.5 Sigma lens so I set the ISO to 3200. Did manage to remove the filter the next day, though.

Remember when? Today it would be, at least, $111.80 for regular in L.A.

Happy 80TH birthday, Peter. Celebrated mine in January. Had a Pentax and a Minolta SRT and my first autofocus was the EOS 620. Love it and still have. First DSLR, a Canon 50D and I am very happy with it. We can all argue which is a better camera. Canon, NIkon, Pentax, Sony, etc. Hey they all have shutter, aperture and manual exposure. It's the person behind the camera that make the picture. My reason for liking Canon is I found it user friendly. But to each his own.

From what I have seen, that's true.

Funny. My friend and I often go out shooting at various places and we count the Canon and Nikon users. DSLR's. He is a Nikon user and is so disappointed that there are more Canon cameras the Nikon. Try as he might, I will not trade or sell my Canon for a Nikon..

I purchased the Tamron 16-300 a month ago. Before buying, I checked the lens out at the Tamron exhibit at the Big Photo Show in L.A. I was very impressed. The AF is very fast and quiet and, unlike the 18-270, this lens does NOT CREEP. Tamron fixed that problem. It surprisingly light. The zoom ring is large and can be gripped easily and not loose. You can manually adjust the AF to fine tune it. Takes a 67mm filter. On an APS camera, it's equivalent to 24mm-480mm. Price is $629 and I think your friend will be very happy with it. It will be his primary lens. By the way, I have a Canon camera. EOS 50D. A few pics I shot with it.

I don't blame you for wanting to retire there. Sunsets, alone, make it worth while. Crooked, but the framing is great.

Very nice shots for an 8 year old. He's good. Tell him to "Keep on shooting." Like the first picture.

Thank you, photophile, for your positive comments. Shot numerous and various exposures of the sunset to get the shot I wanted.

Thanks, Mitch35. I had to get down on the pavement and shoot up. More trouble getting up to stand. Not as young as I used to be I guess.

Went to Griffith Park Observatory hoping to get some sun set and dusk photos. There were no clouds to be seen, but I did manage to experiment with some exposures using the new Tamron 16-300mm lens. Lens AF is very fast and quiet. Canon EOS 50D.

Purchased this lens at the Big Photo Show in L.A. Found it to be lighter than expected.Very fast and quiet focus and unlike the 18-270, it does not creep. Used it to shoot birds in flight, which I have never attempted before. Missed a number of shot as I wasn't quite used to the lens, but did managed to get more then I missed. AF servo and continues shot.
