I own a 7D...purchased this summer. I purchased a 50 mm 1.2 a year or so ago with portraiture in mind...like the lens, but came to realize that on a cropped sensor...it was not actually 50 mm. Still love the lense, but am thinking maybe another prime such as the 85 would be a good purchase.

I'm interested in purchasing a Canon 85mm 1.8...I can't afford the L series, but have heard good things about the lower priced model, too. Thanks for your thoughts.
I'll jump in and say thanks, too...I really appreciate the opportunity to make some new friends who share my passion/addiction to photography. On the advice of my UGG friends I bought the Canon 7D and am having fun learning all the bells and whistles!

I appreciate that you don't need 10 books on the same subject...I tend to "think" that would help, but I'm going to get one or two and really stick with those. Good morning UHH friends. I took the plunge and ordered a Canon 7D yesterday. Now I'm wondering if anyone out there has a recommendation for a good resource book on using this camera. I'm a "book" person and certainly intend to read the manual thoroughly, but I wonder if anyone has discovered an additional resource that made the learning curve a bit easier? Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
Hi Dawn. I'm just "on the brink" of ordering a Canon 7D from B&H so I really appreciated your link to this ebook. I purchased it this morning after having read your post. So glad to hear that you love your 7D...I'll be moving from a Rebel (plastic) to the 7D (metal)...did the weight of the 7D bother you at all. I handheld one at a camera store recently and I have to admit that I'm a bit worried about the "heft" of the camera. Thanks for your thoughts.
