As nice as the cropped image may be, I have to say that I prefer more "environmental" photographs. Your version, Grandpaw, has the wonderful reflection and some of the surroundings where the egret lives. It is a beautiful photograph of a bird AND the world he lives in. Excellent work!

I think you've captured a mood here. There is a dreamy quality with the shallow DOF, the delicate patterns of the weeds and the softness of the bird. Definitely a keeper in my opinion.

I love taking "environmental" shots. I see this as a photo of a chipmunk in the midst of his environment giving us a glimpse of his size and where he lives. So it's both "landscape" AND "wildlife," and a beautiful example of this.
