Beautiful! I live in Santa Maria, about 40 minutes from the Pismo Grove I've been up a couple of times in the past three weeks. I got a few photos through the telescope they had set up the first time I went, and couldn't find any clusters when I went this past Friday. Maybe I was there too early in the day. Plus I did not have binoculars to better see where they might be.
I was talking to a docent when I was there a few weeks ago, and she told me at that time they only had about 650 butterflies there, as opposed to the 12,000 or so from past years. So, sadly we seem to be fast losing our Monarch population.
Thanks for sharing this photo!
I much appreciate the people on here who are able to raise Monarchs. Keep up the good work all!
I'll post my photos.
Out of the mouths of babes! Funny!
Thank you Graham. These are great! I so enjoyed all of them.

I don't think you blew it at all! I really like it. The colors work well together, and the background offsets the rose quite well. I love photographing flower close ups as well.

Gorgeous photos! Hope I can take photos that beautiful someday!
If I may ask, what is the key to getting good
reflection photos?

Love the color and sharpness of the flower and the blurred background.

My favorites are #1 and #7, with the open wings.
Hope that helps.

Hi. Beautiful photos! I am just getting into photography as a hobby. My three favorite subjects are flower close ups, landscape, and my 6 pound Pomeranian, Violet. Keep up the great work!
