Excuse my silly ass for asking this question, but where are all the liberals that should be screaming about the separation of church and state? I'm sorry, I forgot myself, that only applies if you are Christian. Oh and by the way I have an english translation of the Koran(or however it's spelled) on my bookshelf, yea, sits next to the Satanic Verses, the Talmud and Bible.

Consider. . . Get a GOOD scanner, that will handle 4 x 5" negatives, shoot with your 4 x 5 camera, develop the film, - then scan the negs into your 'digital darkroom' for possibly the best of both worlds?

Another possibility FWIW, I kept my Patterson tanks, I have a couple of film holders that will hold 4x5 film and fit in the tank. They are actually from a "dip & dunk" machine. Allows me to process my B&W film with out a darkroom, I also have a couple of large changing bags. I can scan on my old Flat bed scanner, it'll handle up to 8x10 transparencies. Old tech, but still works for me. Just some thoughts.

Going to buy myself a faster laptop with much more memory.
I.T. guy at work, and a couple others suggested Apple.
Pricy on the front end, but the reliability and ease of use is said to be superior to the IBM clones. I have been a satisfied Dell used for 15 years.

Suggestions and recommendations welcome.

I am going to go look at the Mac Book Pro with Retina display, 2.8 GHz processor 1 TB flash memory.

My other consideration was the Dell Alien

Nothing new to add other than I bought a Macbook 13" over three years ago, it hasn't missed a lick. The only issue was having to replace the battery, after almost 1000 charge/discharge cycles. I turn it on and it works. Plan on moving up to an iMac 27" in the near future. I use PSE 12. Enjoy!!

Been there, done that. I wish you all the luck in the world selling your dark room equipment. I had a lot of 4X5 and 120 tanks reels, color enlarger, etc. Managed to get $600 for the works. Like you I will probably never go back to the dark room. I miss it, the smell of the hypo and soft glow of safe lights. I did keep my 4X5 camera, it was a Christmas gift from my wife shortly after we were married. Hang in there we are in a new era.

Reading through the comments, one thing is certain, as mentioned by SNL writers. Republicans can take a joke and laugh about it, democrats take it personally. Lighten up people.

Didn't see it, got more important things to do like sort my socks, take out the trash, etc. This "three hour debate" will make not one wit of difference in the world.
