Never mind photoserj. I fully understand what you’re saying and I totally agree with you.

There will always be some who will never do anything if there is a .00005% chance of something going wrong. Good luck to them, they’re entitled to do or not do whatever they want.

I do have to say that this in my view is an offensive comment.
I have regularly shot golf matches and even been asked to do it on the day of the event when the organisers have been let down.
Many organisers only think of a photographer at the last minute anyway.
I therefore think it’s highly presumptuous to make such a comment without background knowledge
A comment I would make is along the lines of knowing when and where to take photos if the photographer is not experienced in shooting golf events. Standing in the wrong position, moving at the wrong time or firing off shutters on golfers backswings is more likely to create the problem of being allowed to take photos rather than worrying about printing them off.

Nothing on TV or in the newspapers in South Africa, so I guess unless you’re in the US you ain’t going to know what this is about.

I wanted to buy one of these, but my wife was not enthusiastic. When she saw this one at a demo at a holiday show in South Africa she wanted one. We were so pleased with it we bought one for our UK home when we returned there.

I guess there are two types. Those that heat with a normal element and those with a halogen bulb. I bought the latter and find the rotating drum perfect for fries and roasting vegetables. The rotating steak basket is perfect for steaks or toasted sandwiches. Baked potatoes are also wonderful. The rotating kebab skewers for up to eight kebabs works wonderfully too. The rotisserie for smallish chickens is also excellent. We followed the advice to pour a cupful of water in the base for any roasting or for fries or vegetables in the rotating drum which enhances taste. We also cook joints of meat to perfection. It’s also great for cooking cakes etc.
The fact it heats up instantly saves both time and electricity.

You’ll perhaps be suprised Graham that years ago I trained sheep and cattle dogs for herding purposes. I shouldn’t have used the word ‘bloody,’ it was wrong (but seeing this clip again made me quite angry), especially when in a later life I was involved with dogs catching criminals. I also appreciate and understand their training to seek out drugs, money, explosives, find people trapped in avalanches/buildings and guide blind people, etc.
Against this background and these uses I saw training of this dog to do these facile tricks for the gratification of television audiences quite negative. This is especially so when the owner received vast sums of money in comparison to a young person who had dedicated herself to the arts and received less than 5% of that amount, which was my real point.
I certainly don’t expect many people to share my views.

Getting dogs to perform in this way has absolutely no bearing on whether or not I like dogs Graham
An outpouring of support does not surprise me though. Our local garden centre ran bi-monthly collections by way of a wishing well. Every single time the local dogs home got almost twice as much money as the local children’s hospice.

I remember this well. On the same weekend a bloody dog won £100,000 in a talent competition, the winner of Britain’s Young Musician of the Year got a mere £5000. Strange old World.

Having studied the Boer War at length for many years, I have no doubt that Jameson was both set up and knocked down by senior British politicians of the day in a most inglorious and devastating manner.
These words of Kipling I am sure were promoted by and relate entirely to Jameson and the treatment he received following the ‘Jameson Raid’ and would surely serve to buoy him up at such a disastrous time in his life.

I fully recommend Dashlane. I’ve used the paid for version for years. It stores all my passwords, creates strong ones and keeps details of all my credit cards. It saves hours filling in forms and credit cards details, doing it all for me in seconds.
A word of caution though, everything is stored on your computer. If you forget your password, you’re dead in the water and cannot access the programme. Dashlane has no idea what your password is and cannot help you retrieve it.

I think that the shaking of the trailer after a few feet on the road will release the tension of the strap and your theory doesn't apply. The fun is back guys!

Wrong. Just think about it. As the trailer shakes, the soil compresses down and tries to move outwards. This in fact increases the tension on the strap. It does not decrease as you suggest. In my days we used ropes and unless you used a special knot called a ‘trailer hitch’ the tension on the rope became so great due to this increased sideward pressure, it was impossible to undoe the knot.
Trust me. I learned this from years of experience. I also learned from bitter experience that stupidly, if you didn’t put these restraining straps on the trailer, outward pressure could burst open the side plates, spilling a load onto the road thus giving you untold trouble from the Police for having an insecure load.
