What focal length lens would you recommend for landscapes?

It depends on the format. It is like 1.6 crop vs Full Frame with digital. For 6x7 I use 50mm wide, a 90mm normal and 180mm telephoto. I would recommend either a 50mm or 65mm for wide angles.

I use a Mamiya RB67 for my landscape work. For my color work I scan with a Canonscan 8800 which gives fairly high quality. I also scan all of my b&w work for web purposes. However, I print my b&w in a wet darkroom which is gives the best b&w quality.

It's only obsolete if you cannot control your lust for newer technology.

If you can let your brain rule your heart you will realize that somewhere between 10 and 16 megapixels may be all you need for most photography.

On the other hand, I just got a very nice Rolleiflex 2.8F for about $1,700 that take better pictures than most digital cameras and it's 40 years old. My 30 year old Hasselblads do just as well. Obsolescence is not an issue there.

As long as you can get the film.

Couldn't that area have been darker and he just burned in more to enhance it. Seriously it is not that difficult.

I mentioned the Canon AE-1. I was given one at 12 back in 2002. I know a lot more than people I know who started out with digital. And no, I did not burn through that much film back then. I use far more know in a year now than I did when I was 12 and 13

Assuming that he did not put the frame on the photo in photoshop, I would say he using large format film.

This is because of the notch codes, but a lot of times digital photographers put film frames on their photo. Not sure why. So it could be either. With that amount of detail and sharpness I would say film.

NPPA is not a company, it is a trade association similar to a union.Yes, it is a legitimate organization. Not everyone can join and get a press pass. You need proof of needing it. I as a student member cannot get a press pass. Also, a press pass has no legal authority to it. It provides an explanation and information about why you are at event, nor do they automatically get you access. Even with my newspaper's press pass, I still have to get a floor pass at sports events. NPPA has a legal team that protects members if hassled primarily by police.
