Grandad their isn't a day I don't worry about Leo my
grandson. I am deeply involved in helping children in the
autistic community. Did a production for school. PSA etc.
I have learned to love the children where Leo goes to school.
Some have never talked. Others have serious disabilities.
Leo see's me and lights up the room with a big smile for me.
You take this as a gift and love them all.

It bothers me the level of anger in America today.
Different opinions and approaches and religious freedom
are why our ancestors came to the new world.
The angry tone of your questions suggest that you
don't have an open mind. Listening to other people's idea's
have enriched my life. I suggest that when you are finished
with Ann Coulter's ranting books you read a bio of Thomas
Jefferson. There are a number of good ones.

This is a great story of Carly's journey.
My grandson Leo did not talk until he was 5 years old.
Intensive therapy by therapists and parents consistency
now 9 in a few weeks he talks full sentences.
And their is an intellect in most of these children it
jus't can't be communicated well. Thanks this helps.

Hello-I must bring up the issue of full frame. Yes you can move your feet to where you want you shot, but the full frame is so much better then the cropped frame. Pro's know the difference.
With the larger sensor you have better low light and bokeh.
Of course lens are expensive but a prime and quality zoom would be great fun. Whatever you decide i enjoyed my D7000 a very comfortable camera. My D800 is big and that is an issue to consider not sure how small 610 is. Look at a chart of the 2 crop factors and then enjoy either camera. Good luck.

Their is a new version 7100. I must tell you that
the my 7000 was a favorite camera. It just worked
so well and shots/video were good. I traded it in and
didn't get much for it but wanted a premium Nikon lens.
With the rush to full frame I will bet that their are many
good used in B&H or any of the big suppliers rather then refurb.
Good Luck Tom

Let me remind you that Mr. Henri Cartier-Bresson used
a rangefinder camera. Probably one of the father's of modern photography. The bridge between amateur/wanting to be pro,
and pro can have some people telling you it can't be done.
It is wonderful with today's digital camera's you can buy a kit to shoot great stuff. This opportunity did not exist when you needed strobes and a Hasselblad to be considered serious. Do what work you wan't to do. And I read a great interview with a great young up and coming woman photographer. The last quote from her in the article was what would you tell up-and-coming photographers today. She said "just shoot"!

Hello well I have had the 28-300 FX lens for long time.
It is a very good lens. Kind of surprised me for the price.
Like most of the good Nikon lens it is heavy. Coupled with
a Nikon D800 or the 700 I used to have it is a big rig.
You can hand hold it but it is a lot of camera.
I like the gentlemen who mentioned the 85mm. I found that
It's ideal and feels good for walk around shooting. Or just
a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 would really handle well and would free you more to enjoy a quick shot. The smaller full frames are beginning to spoil all of us. It depends what you plan to shoot.
Good luck.

Beautiful work. Why not the D800 it has come down in price.
The pixel count might be somewhat like what you have.
Or the new Sony A7r with an adaptor you can use all Nikon lens.
Good luck with your art.

Good responses but everyone is talking about brands.
Didn't pickup on my comment about a new world where
moving images and still images are meeting. I recently shot a Triathlon myself with a Sony NX30 and the small RX100 II.
Shot with the RX100 at early morning prep in dark with a few floods on the competitors. The video was great with the NX30 a very reasonable camera. A gem. I pulled stills shot a 60P
off the camcorder and they were great. Client loved them. Yes an event job with not much magical Shallow DOP which my Nikons and good glass can do. But could not have used DSLR with the pace of shooting.
So this is the new world we live in. Video and stills etc.
Size and presence of camera does matter. Low profile for documentary style is a must.
Love Nikon, Canon C300 wish I had and Sony is so reliable.
My Nikon D800 had been fixed once already. Still like it. Tom

I think something has been left out of this conversation.
It is the power of film/video in our work and our lives.
That said I have had SLR's all my life. Mostly Nikon's.
Being a producer I realized the demand for video and stills
is huge. I realize the wall many pro photographers and videographers has broken and now see they need skills to do both. Fashion photographers are shooting with Red Cameras and pulling stills. I started shooting video with a Nikon DSLR. I always directed or produced business and event projects. And wasn't hands on. And the price of gear for your own use was to high. New products are changing this quickly. I would say Sony has been the leader.
They now offer cameras that do both even 4k for what a Canon Mark III costs. A doc producer could go out with a couple out with a bunch of NEX cameras and lens (limited but growing)
in a small bag with a light good tripod and do a great film and great still shots.
I love Canon and Niko but like this new world in which I can
be the producer, director and DP and enjoy the freedom for my personal work and clients. It is empowering.
The art of it is the work not the camera. Just opened Videomaker and their was a story of a spanish filmmaker who shoots with an iPhone and does amazing things winning awards.
Good luck to you all these are different times.

The Mark III is great. But the lens are very expensive.
The footage is a bit soft and has a forced warm red to it.
That's why I wanted to D800's with all the lens I have.
I shot a Triathlon recently with a 2 Sony smaller cameras.
For events these camcorders are great. For setup shots with
creative in mind the D800 and a 24-70 or 1.8 and 1.4 lens should be very rewarding. Ideally a cine camera like the FS700 which takes many different lens choices would be great. $7500 at this point. Thanks for suggestions and listening.

shallow DOF video with SLR's.

Thank you all for your kind suggestions WB and presets in menu.
It is nice to know their is a community of creative people that look after each other.
I think my problem is I bought the D800's to do video and the difficulties of doing DSLR video requires great focus because you are shooting as a DP would with cinema in mind.
I am a producer/director and now a shooter sometimes.
And have years of experience.
I must say that with an LCD on camera and a hdmi monitor
attached reading color and WB can be frustrating.
I will spend the time to tweak. The D800 camera is brilliant.
I need to be to.
Thanks Tom

I heard on TV that even though we have double jeopardy
Italy does not. So the Italian takes precedence.
The DOJ can reject an extradition if they feel it is wrong.

As to her looks mentioned. i think she is very sexy.
And this is part of the problem from the beginning.

And the world press is just awful. Listen to our stations
here. Truth is not an option. Ratings are.

I have 2 D800's. The camera has always been a mystery to me.
The LCD on each shows an image that is sometimes so different
from the pic or video. Canon's is really close to real result.
I had trouble with cards. I bought the good one Sandisk etc.
They fixed that. I love some of the video I have shot for a job.
The LCD looks blue, green somewhat they say that is the real
image. I kind of like that look cold....
The 2 bodies do not sound the same in operation.
I have been shooting more video then stills so maybe that
is the problem. I have small Sony camera's like the RX100 II
and the NX-30 video camcorder and love the images even pulled right off of the 60p video. Any thoughts. Tom
