The posted photos are the same picture with a closer crop on the second. I was wondering which of the two is more appealing and any improvements I can or could have made. Camera was a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor DX 18-135 Zoom. ISO 400 135mm F5.6 at 1/60 second handheld.

Don't forget your polarizer. Hawaii is so stunning it's difficult to take a lousy landscape, have a great time.

Perhaps you could crop in tighter? Tight enough to eliminate the girl's face in the upper left corner? Don't worry about cropping off the top of your main subjects head, that's perfectly acceptable.

I agree with you. Seems a bit silly to me, all those rules to post on the photo analysis thread. Already read one where a general, not specific question was asked, which should be in the photo gallery. But I really do not care, it's a fun forum. :)
