I think it really depends on what your planning on shooting. Over all if I'm going out of country I take my Nikon D90 with a 18mm-200mm lens and a tripod. If I stay in the US I use my Nikon D700 with a bunch of lens & tripod. Check out my travel pics at Smugmug, type in robeng.

Get images overall. If you really want to compare your pictures submit them to 72dpi.
