I have made 2 inquiries to such ads and was informed that Canada was a no go. Maybe it's retaliation for whomping the USA hockey team.

I don't know, but I suspect that most people would deal with Canada too - it *is* the 51st state, isn't it?
Seriously, though, I suspect that they mean more a case of not shipping to Europe, or other 'foreign' parts. There is always the issue of import dues and stuff, although I have no idea if that would apply North of the border.

Really good deal here but....

Question: I see it all over the place, here and elsewhere... shipping to USA only. Why?

I am in Canada and ship to USA as well as Canada with no problem or extra costs incurred so why do US dealers only ship to USA?

Maybe this should be a topic on it's own...

Yes, I have done 3 print head cleanings (bye bye ink) and other prints come out great with no banding or other anomolies. It only seems to be a problem with the Canon Premium RC Photo Lustre and some canvases.

Maybe some of you have run into this... at least those with the Color Munki system. I have done many print profiles but every now and then I hit a snag. The last one is on the first test print, I can scan the first three columns with no problem but there is no way in hell I can get the fourth column to read. The medium is Canon Premium RC Photo Lustre. No matter what I do, reboots, program reboots, fast, slow, upside down, even try to cheat and re-read the 3rd column and nothing works.

Has anyone run into similar problems? Ummm... of those that actually have and use the Color Munki system. I have emailed X-Rite but still no answer.

Profiling aside, I am using the Canon IPF8100 and if I use the Canon supplied ICC profile the colors are so far off that setting it to let the printer handle the profile it gets better but still the skies especially are a muddy blue.

Paul, if you are indeed talking a clone then there is no need to format or initialize a drive. The cloning process will do all that for you. Now if your talking back up then yes you are correct.

The new drive F should be blank; if not, format it to remove all files (be sure you are formatting the new drive F and not your C drive or any other drive that might be on your computer). You want the intended replacement drive to contain no data but to be formatted and ready for use.

You shot this at 1/800 and f5.6 with 1600 ISO which leaves the DOF way too shallow as the web and droplets are unsharp. May I suggest in future using 1/200 and f11 (all things being equal) which would increase the DOF to give a sharper web overall but still leave the background bokeh. If this was handheld the shutter speed would still be adequate using your lens at 122mm even with a 1.5 crop factor. Just a suggestion.

A minor but important clarification for all:

Clone Disk: makes a perfect copy of one entire disk to another, sometimes referred to as metal to metal or bit to bit. This does 1 entire disk at a time.

Clone Image: creates a digital file of the entire hard drive, usually in ISO format and stored on another drive, that can then be used to burn copies of the entire hard drive to 1 or multiple drives. This creates a two step process to clone a drive, 1: clone the image then 2: burn that image onto a hard drive.

Backup Drive: creates a multi file back up image (not the same as "image" above) of a drive that requires the proprietary program to re-install all or a portion of the files on a drive. May be used on a working system or by using the emergency boot disk created by the proprietary back up program.

All are considered and may be referred to as back up processes. The term clone denotes a perfect copy of an original. The back up process does not qualify as a clone.

Caveat Emptor: just because they use the term clone does not mean it really is, just saying.

I believe my statement to be true about minimal PP in LR. I do shoot RAW so there is some PP in LR. I did however, neglect to say anything about PP in PS. From LR I opened both photos in layers in PS and blended to 50% on the top layer. That's it. While that technique may be above the heads of a few, for PS aficionados it is bare minimum.

Then your statement about minimal PP in LR was not entirely truthful.

So, what DID you use to 'blend' the images?

Thanks Treepusher, I still have more refining work to do but I think I'm on the right track.

Thanks for all the comments so far. All are valid and it is what I expected. I have hundreds if not thousands of the "nice" light shots but was looking for something a little different.

I took 2 photos, 1 severely out of focus for the bokeh and one sharp then blended them together. This was a first attempt and I can see where I can improve on the results. Yes, a tripod would come in handy but for the experiment hand held told me what I needed to know. I'll refine the technique and post some more if anyone is interested.

I am in agreement with everyone else however...

I believe the shot is premature and should have been taken just a split second later as he launches himself into the wave. As it sits he is in a state of indecision. Is he bracing himself or is he waiting for the perfect time to attack.

I can live with the skin tones but if it was being published I might do some selective white balancing.
