Thanks Mike. Glad you liked them. The target rich environment really afforded me the opportunity to get creative.

Can almost feel the salt spray on my face, in the last one!

2nd pic..Hawaii? (Doesn't look like the California coast!)

Khutz Inlet, British Columbia, about 60 miles south of Prince Rupert. The last pic is off the coast of Baja. I sailed her 22,000 miles from 2007 to 2012.

C6 is a series of Corvette. Mine is a C6, made between 2005 and 2013. The current series cars are C7's, and I *believe* the new ZORA (Mid-engined Corvette) will be a C8. Hopefully, if the car gods ordain it, I will pick up my new C7 in 3 weeks.

The Cat..Tall mast? Winged keel? Nice boat. Ever go to Baja, Hawaii? Orient? O.T.W.?? Pictures??!!!

Reminder: Hot August Nights, Reno, Nevada, 2 weeks! (August 4 - 12)

Channel Island Harbor. Oxnard, right? You live on a boat? Kind? Length? You a ham? I do the Baja Marine Weather and Sea Condition report on Thursdays, at 0815 on 7233.5.

BTW, My favorite, Outside of mine, of course, is the hemi powered Save-On shopping cart.

Great shots....I like that you actually get down on the 'ground' to get some shots. Few Photogs do.

Good memory. Yes, Channel Islands Harbor. My Catalina 470 sold in February, living in a waterfront unit now in the harbor and working full time on promoting my photography "retirement" business. HAHA...yes, I got on the ground...more than once! I had my good sunglasses in my backpack and by the end of the shoot they looked like a pretzel, but I did manage to straighten them out. Thanks for commenting Joe...what's a C6?

Hi Everyone, I haven't been around for awhile and I miss everyone. Things have been moving really fast. As we speak, I have 4 photographs hanging in two museums and two photographs in a juried show at the Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, CA. I have also been accepted as an Artisan by Amazon Handmade and I've been building my store there. No small job!

Meanwhile, Saturday I finally found some time to get back to actual photography so I went with some other photographer friends to Cruise Nights in Glendale. Talk about a target rich environment...WOW! I've posted some of my favs here for you to enjoy as well. The highlight was the sighting of the rare gullwing as it made its approach

Aloha Jim, thanks for your input. I’m going to be in Hawaii in September because I’m getting married at the Fern Grotto in Kauai!

Don't be averse to softening the sky. It'll be in contrast to the hard outlines of the buildings.

The image has been accepted to an Exhibit called "The Sky's the Limit," so I actually wanted a dramatic sky. I do understand what you're saying and it might be a little easier on the eyes with a softer sky, but not this time. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. The advice and feedback I get on this group is truly invaluable.

Thanks Dave, yes and I think the whole composition, lighting, focus...it all works better in the new shot. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

In the attached photograph I'm trying to capture the skyline and use a slow shutter to create the lights in the road effect, but in order not to blow out the extremely bright lights on the building near the center and to get good focus throughout the image I used f/11. The EXIF data is f/11, ISO 100, 29 seconds, Nikon 24-70mm lens @ 24mm. No filters. I've seen a lot of your pictures where you manage to capture the shadows and still not blow out the bright lights. I managed to get a pretty good correction in PP, but I should be able to get a much better image straight from my Nikon D850. Your help and advice would be most appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

I decided to drive back to LA last night and reshoot this shot. The original (not the one we're discussing here, but the one posted with the new one) has been accepted into a local art exhibit at the Community Hospital starting next week, so I needed to get a better shot. The sunset sky in both was added in PS. I think I nailed the second one. Easy for me to say, right. "The L.A. Sky is on Fire" Nikon D850, Tamron 17-35mm, f/2.8-4 lens @17mm, f/22, 15 seconds, ISO 31.

Oh, you are so right. What makes this picture is that the swan was just entering the water as I was poised to snap. The reflection never would have been as good otherwise. Thanks for your comment. Positive input is always appreciated.
