I have a C8080 wide zoom, and it's not any better. But a year ago I bought an EM1 Mark ll, now we're talking first class.

I have a Nikon D750 and several lenses from 8mm to 150-600 zoom and a year ago I invested in the Olympus EM1 Mark ll and I have to say I have been impressed with this camera. It is now my go to camera and I only drag out the Nikon if I am expecting to shoot in low light at high iso(6400 and up). There is no lag in the EVF and everyone that tries this camera comments on how fast it focuses, and the folks that say they can't shoot flying birds with this camera are not doing something right. Since I switched to the EM1 Mark ll and the Panasonic 100-400, it is a joy to go out for a day of shooting and not have to deal with the back and shoulder aches from the D750 and the Tamron 150-600 combo. Try a EM1 Mark ll, rent one, barrow one, I know you'll be impressed.

something else that two friends have ran into with their D500 is that Lightroom does not recognize their camera. Also had a friend with a new Canon that Lightroom does not recognize. I went from a D7000 to a D750 and have been more than satisfied. The 750 is excellent at high iso and low light. Good luck with whatever you choose, as others have said , there is really no bad choice.

Lightzone is the best I have found, although Darktable is very good. I use a Linux system and there is no windows version yet for Darktable.

There is a clone of Lightroom called "LightZone" , it is a free open source program. I use it for all of my raw processing and editing.

I just purchased a Lumix FZ1000 for the same reasons. It has a 1 inch sensor and the lens is a Leica 25-400 with digital out to 800. But I actually was more interested in the 4K video function of this camera and the ability to grab frames from the video in camera. Pretty impressive camera for the price.

I bought the Tamron 150-600 G2 a couple of months ago to replace a Sigma 150-500, and it is a fantastic lens. I use it on a Nikon D750 and was always disappointed in the Sigma because my images always seemed soft, not so with the Tamron G2, they are tack sharp all the way to 600mm.
