I have used non OEM ink in a number of printers. The results tended to be fine, although those printers did clog, and eventually fail. I'm not blaming that on the non OEM ink. However, the printers on which I've used only OEM ink haven't had any problems. Maybe a coincidence.

Same with camera batteries. When I've used third party batteries everything has worked fine, but the life of the batteries and their ability to hold charge appears to be less than the Canon batteries I've had. Again, could be a coincidence, but it influences my purchases now.

I don't think it's Apple's app - it's made by a company called Moonlighting LLC.

That's something I've been pondering too.

I post some on Facebook, some on Instagram and some on 500px. I also have collections on SmugMug.

I'm a consultant to the tourism industry, so use travel orientated images on my own website and to illustrate blog posts and articles.

I set up a closed Facebook group and invited friends from my dim and distant past, then have posted scanned slides from our mutual histories in the 70s, 80s and 90s. That appears to have reunited quite a number of friends around the world.

But what to do with others? There's only so much wall space for prints. I guess I just take them for my own enjoyment and to look back on past events and experiences.

So, they just sit on computer hard drives and in the cloud on back ups.

Canon EOS 1 looks pretty popular.

Not surprising seeing that the series was sponsored by Canon Australia!

I was getting gear envy though!

I was just going to post about this! Binge watched the series last night. Going to see it again on a big 4K TV when I get home from vacation. Good to know that they've completed the second series in Australia. Can't wait.

I have used Crucial to add memory to a number of Macs, laptops, iMacs and Mac Pros. They have always been reliable and efficient. No hesitation in recommending them.

I used Carbonite, but as you found, they did not include external drives. I switched to Backblaze which I've found to be very good.

I downloaded yesterday and everything went very well. I'm using it as a LR and PS extension. Only tried it with LR so far and like what I see.
It's certainly another set of tools to use.

I'm about to go away for a week and will only have my iPad with me, so I wish there were an iOS version! ;-).

I got a Manfrotto 680B just for that reason. It's sturdy, not overly heavy, and appears to work as a hiking stick if I want. No, it's not a replacement for a tripod or a walking stick, but it's not designed to be. It provides a good stable platform if you don't want to completely hand hold, and it's a good bit of support for my on and off arthritic knee!

A carbon fiber version would be at least as strong, and lighter, but at a significantly higher price.

Coupled with a 234RC head, it's giving good service.

Thank you Alan, Richard, Peter and Mike.

Really great info, and much to think about. I believe I'm heading to the eBay sales route for the gear I don't use, and I think that will achieve the anti-GAS that will make me feel better too!

Thank you very much for all your advice, I genuinely appreciate it.

My photography is mostly what could be termed Travel Photography (I'm a consultant to the the tourism industry) - so landscape, street scenes etc., plus I attend dog shows every now and then also like to capture birds etc, but mostly in the yard or from my dock. Nothing too taxing!

I have checked both what is on eBay and and past sales - hence my comment that there is not too much showing up as the lenses are quite old.

I think what my plan will be is to sell (on eBay, or may be here?) the two prime lenses, and perhaps the zoom, together with a Digital Rebel Xti I have and never use, which is in great condition and was only serviced about a year ago. It's in the original box with all the ancillaries and packaging, instruction books etc. That lot may generate a $200-$300 who knows? All the items are in great condition. Anyway, I think I'll do that in either the lead up to Christmas or early in the new year when I believe people are searching for things. That will stop any suggestions in my own mind of Gear Acquisition Syndrome, as I'll be shedding things I don't use.

Much as I'd like a 100-400L, I can't justify the cost and my wildlife use is not high on the list. Grabbing the odd bird shot is about it currently. I would like a bit more 'reach' for my dog show stuff than my 18-200 zoom can offer, so I think I may go for a refurbished 70-300zoom, as these sell for about what an eBay auction achieves and come with year warranty. I notice there is one on the sales section here currently, but it's about the same price as a refurbished item direct from Canon.

Once again, thank you for your advice it was most valuable.

Have a look at the 50 and see if it has the metal mount. Don't let the quoted price fool you. This version as well as it's mark II (all plastic) version are excellent. It's weakness is the focus motor that is squeaky.

Yes, it's the metal mount version.
