Just joined the forum and i'd appreciate some views from members please:

I started taking photographs many years ago with a Nikkormat FT3 35mm camera. After a long absence from photography I entered the digital world with a Nikon D3200 and I'm very happy with it although none of my old Nikor lenses will work on the D3200. I can see the images perfectly but nothing else functions. It took me quite a while to understand the effect that a smaller sensor has on field of view. However, before I fully understood this, I found myself looking at adds for lenses, where a lens of say 50mm on a full frame 35mm would be touted as a 75mm on a smaller sensor, i.e., my D3200. I got all excited and purchased a Tamron 70-300 zoom thinking that the 300mm would give me 450mm on my D3200. Wrong wrong wrong. I started swapping my prime lenses from my Nikkormat days onto my D3200 and found that the images were the same size. Yes, the D3200 maybe doesn't let one see the same field of view as the full frame Nikkormat, but the image remains the same size. The 50mm does not magnify to 75mm equivalent. So I now understand the difference between field of view and image size! I look at adverts for lenses and I see the words" 300mm is equivalent to a 450mm on APS-C." To me this is wrong. When you put a full frame 300mm lens on a smaller sensor, it doesn't magnify the image at all. You just see less of it and seeing less of an image does not bring it any closer!

I'd like to hear what other readers have to say. Am I wrong?

I'm not so much in favor of making pot legal as I am in favor of decriminalizing it. Why put a guy or gal in prison and ruining their life for possession of it? When you think of all the damage done to people over the last 100 years for having possession of a drug that has no known lethal dose it just makes no sense. AND, if you consider the fact that creating a black market for it only fills the pockets of gangs like MS13 and the Bloods/Crips it just makes no sense. I just wish the government would stay the heck out of it excepting to make it illegal for anyone under 21 and illegal to drive. Otherwise do what you want. It's your life.

I'm amazed at the negative comments about the legalization of marijuana in California. Abuse of alcohol causes violence and traffic deaths, yet it has no benefits. People who drive while high can also cause traffic deaths, but pot has proven medical benefits. Consider the millions of dollars wasted by law enforcement pursuing pot users. Among of the supporters of pot laws is the for-profit prison industry and the politicians who support it. It's to the benefit of both of them to get as many people as possible into prison, so decliminalizing pot is going to hurt them financially.

where we live in PA it's not to far to get to NJ, the other day we were getting low and since 1, we were by the state border 2, it was colder than an Alaskan privy and 3, the full on latches on the nozzles often are broken here, we crossed over to the dark side.

Getting back to the OP. Do people from Oregon travel out side of their state? ever? B4 you leave at least find out where the gas cap is! Which begs the question for those who claimed they don't even know where that is, how the hell did you learn how to line up at the pump?

As far as self service lowering prices, if you buy that I have some water front property in AZ you should be interested in. The first thing I can remember along that line is MacDonald's saying they don't have waiters so they can keep the price down and oh by the way clean up after yourself to keep those prices down. Relativity speaking that didn't work either. And we still stand in line like we're in the military and we still clean up after ourselves.
