SoHillGuy, the photo is the lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan, about 30 miles north of the Indiana border at Lake Michigan.
I've stood in the same spot many times, but never when it was quite that cold! Thanks for the memories.....
I'm ecumenical, but don't mind worshipping at the church of Olympus. Or Nikon, etc.
I was a Michigander for eight years, but barely. Lived in Michiana, seven miles north of Notre Dame. Good ol' Niles Michigan, home of Tommy James.
I'm an Olympus convert as well, probably because I live about five miles from the Olympus USA headquarters. Also shooting with an E620. I'm looking to step up to a higher grade lens than the two intro lens that came with my package. Any suggestions, Olympus fans?
Hello all,
I'm Al from the Lehigh Valley. I shoot with an Olympus E620. I've really enjoyed lurking for a few months and look forward to checking the site everyday.
I really liked the railroad photo as well.
Philo - really like this shot.
Sherrie, I've long studied the Amish and I agree with you that it is a way to observe their culture. I have seen many beautiful, pastoral photographs of Amish society over the years. I just wouldn't take the photos myself.
I agree with Deewheat. It is very offensive to the Amish to be photographed. Two years ago I was driving northeast of Lancaster, PA, early on Thanksgiving morning.
I saw a family in an open buggy heading to someone's house or some Thanksgiving event. It was the type of photograph that you wait a lifetime for, but I didn't take it and haven't regretted it, though I would have loved that photo.
