Took these while traveling through Cape Cod a few summers ago. Taken late in the day using sunset golden light.

Film scanned using Epson scanner.
Comments welcomed.

Nice job with a self timer! You can fix the horizon line easily enough in photoshop:) I'd like to see these as vertical compositions and not horizontal so that the two of you filled the frame more. Just my thoughts though:)

Ditto on a closer vertical orientation and horizon correction. Overall, good job with self-timer.

Thanks for posting this. The pics are fabulous. Somp parts of the CA end of 66 is like a stroll down memory lane.

Terrific photos, and as one who also has a D80 among my Nikons, I am glad that the older Nikon digicams are still showing their capabilities.

As a paean to one group of precursors of photography, I photographed my seven month old grandson exactly five years aqo. His mother wanted a silhouette in the tradition of the old handcut ones. It was later placed in an oval mat and framed.

Taken in front of a large window, then stripped out the background to the traditional white.

Two methods of finding out magazines' photo needs:

-Go to the mag's website for info on their photog's/writer's guidelines for submission. Sometimes the guidelines are on the website itself; if not, use the contact info to request the guidelines.

-Obtain a copy of Photographer's Market, published by Writer's Digest. It will contain helpful articles on all aspects of photographing for media, as well as listings of most published magazines, trade journals, etc., and their photographic wants and needs. Pay scales are often listed.

Good luck.

Kudos also on the B+W. It is more evocative.

Thanks for your input; it is appreciated.
BTW: Ready made frames for 12x18 prints are available at the local Michael's and A.C. Moore store.

Thank you one and all for your good knowledgable advice and comments. I can see your viewpoints as valid.

I guess I failed in my attempt to recreate the feeling of those old faded color, uncontrasty almost non-photographic post cards of the 1940's and 50's before they were replaced by photorealistic imagery.

I was not trying to create post cards per se, as I agree that their time is pretty much over. I thought of this as a poster of 12x18 or larger for rec room or family room display.

After living in RI for 63 years, we moved south almost six years ago. Lived in GA for four years, and then moved to NC a couple years ago. We were drawn to Apex, NC owing to its listing in both Forbes and Money magazine as one of the best small towns to live in in the USA.

I tried to show our appreciation for the area photographically by creating a few posters containing scenes from Apex rendered in HDR via Photomatix. I was trying for that old postcard look from the 1950's.

Local gift shops were very receptive to them on consignment, but they failed to generate much interest. I am posting one for your input. What could I have done to improve the product? All input appreciated. Thanks.

I offered these in 8.5x11, 12x18, and larger.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I am familiar with most of these already, owing to 50+ years relationship with photography. Although these were not the site I had in mind, you have reminded me of other places that I had forgotten.

For that, thanks a bunch.

No, Pete, I am familiar with Photojojo. This other site was far more extensive with listings of just about any accessory for your particular camera body that you would need: replacement sync outlet covers, wireless remote triggers, eyepiece covers, etc.

Thanks for your response, though.

I ran across a great website a few months ago which featured available o.e.m. camera accessories, as well as aftermarket items for most camera brands. For example, you could purchase a Nikon lithium battery or an LCD protector, etc., or instead purchase a cheaper second party brand. They also featured unique accessories not readily available elsewhere. They seemed to have everything, sort of like the old J. C. Whitney catalogue did for auto enthusiasts.

Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark the site and have forgotten its name.

Anyone know of such a site. I would most appreciate any leads.

Remember Spiratone well. You are referring to a stabilization processor. These were made by a few different companies and Spiratone sold a popular one.
