Happy Birthday.

Like me (in my opinion & my wife may have a different one at times), I hope you age and not grow old.

I am looking over my shoulder as you close the percent (at 0.9 %) gap on me.

Enjoy.

Admin moved them for me. It was a slip of the brain that got them in the wrong forum. LOL

That's a relief -- I thought I was having another senior moment!

Those images are very nice. But maybe should have been posted in the photo gallery?

I'm confused -- I clicked on Photo gallery and found this thread.

I think the middle three are excellent and tell a story. They are all good. Thanks for sharing.

I really like and think the pumpkin structure is great and I would experiment around to emphasize it a little more.

I would also have liked to have downloaded pumpkin structure to look at it closer.

With the given photo I would experiment with the following to hi light the pumpkin:

Downplay the back ground lights (windows, steps, left door way?),

Crop out the steps and door way at the left but keeping the patio sign,

Etc.

Just some thoughts

Great story and thank you for sharing. You have a great smile.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that some people do not like your smile.

Like photography, I guess, everyone will not like any one given image; but, for the rest of us -- keep smiling.

I get so many comments and questions about my avatar. My smile seems to be the subject of most of the comments. Some like it, some don't. Here is the complete unedited photo. I will explain my smile that day.

It was Thanksgiving day after we had finished dinner. My mom comes every year the day before and we cook and prepare all day for the meal the next day. Often one or both of my boys will join us. They don't help much, in fact they are completely annoying, but my mom and I love it, and the day before is just as fun as the day of Thanksgiving.

In the few years preceding this my mother had numerous surgeries. Esophagus surgery, spinal surgery at the neck, stints put in, rectal surgery, and now right before this holiday she had to have knee surgery. This was the first one that I was not able to bring her home and help her recover. She had to be in the nursing home for 2 weeks to receive proper therapy. This was very depressing for her, and I went there every night to have dinner with her. She got sprung 2 days before the Holiday.

We were so happy for her to be out. She wasn't able to help much this year. She usually makes her homemade buns, but this year she had to coach me through it. It didn't matter, it was just nice to have her there, and that is why, I have such a big smile on my face in my avatar.

I would like to backup from my SD card while travelling in Italy and would prefer to not bring a laptop. Can I do this if I buy a portable hard drive?

If you are not interested in buying a portable HD and are interested in minimizing weigh so you can travel with just carry-on luggage, the system I used a couple of years ago is to carry several SD cards, 2-3 USB flash sticks. Locate a internet cafe and copy the SD card information to the flash sticks. This way you have two copies of all pictures, had some good coffee, and a pack under 30 pounds for a two week period. NOTE: be prepared to do laundry nightly in the in the basin every night if you want to associate with others.

If you are shooting in RAW you can make various saturation and vibrance alterations however being partially color blind will be a problem - maybe a wife, friend or partner could help you out in that department. Good luck.

I do shot RAW.

I am also concerned about over doing the color bit, but I will give it a go.

Thank you for the feedback.

It is a great shot and you could do so much more with it. Have you ever used the Topaz plug ins? They would work some magic on that shot.

I do not use Topaz. I use Photoshop sometimes. I'll look into Topaz. I have to admit I am partially color blind.

Thanks

Did you shot #2 in landscape mode?

All shots were handheld; Ap priority; on a very windy gusty day. It was a glorious day for walking along the cliffs.

In #1 it would have been better if you had used a Graduated Grey filter (such as a Cokin) to give some detail in the sky. The other are great. From Beachy Head, I presume)

I agree and I wish I had taken my Cokin & tripod with me.

I may try to post process a GNF affect. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, it is Beachy Head.
