I have a Nikon D7100, having this past year upgraded from a D5100. The 7100 is loaded with lots of features and offers plenty of creative options. I also have the 18-300 lens, older and heavier version. It is a wonderful carry-about lens. I took it on a trip to Germany and shot lots of pictures. Two of these have won awards in local photo contests, so the lens is plenty sharp. With the price of the 7100 recently coming down to below $1000, I would buy it and then choose my lens. There are plenty of choices, but I like my 18-300 for an all-purpose lens

While we both speak the same language, pronunciation between England and America varies considerably, just as regional pronunciation in America varies. For example, the pronunciation of someone from New England would be very different from the pronunciation of someone from South Carolina or Georgia. The fact is that speaking a language is a living and dynamic act, and language changes over time. When speakers of a language are separated by barriers such as an ocean, or by long distances, each group's language changes, but not the same, so over time there are marked differences. There are no absolute rules on pronunciation, just norms within one group or another.

Thanks for all the information. In reviewing the comments and thinking through the decision, I realized I am purchasing a cord to connect two sensitive electronic devices, so saving a few bucks is not worth the risk. I am ordering the Nikon SC-28 TTL remote cord from B&H today. Thanks again, all.

I agree that a good used camera would be the best bargain in this price range. You should find a very good condition Nikon D5100 with an 18-55 kit lens in the $500 range. I own the 5100 and it is an excellent camera. B&H, Adorama and KEH Camera all have used stock and are reliable dealers. There are lots of used items on Amazon, but you need to vet the dealers pretty carefully before you buy from them.

I have a Nikon D7100 and SB 700 speedlight. I am considering buying a remote cord for the flash. Do secondary market cords work well with the Nikon flash lighting system, or should I go with the Nikon remote cord.

I have a Nikon battery grip for my D7100 and I really like having it on the camera. I have large hands and use some heavy lenses, and the grip gives me good balance in landscape, and is very convenient to use in portrait. After a lot of research, I decided to go with the Nikon (MB-D15)rather than an aftermarket brand. I paid $234.95 at B&H Photo, no shipping. Yes, this is more money, and yes, some people swear their aftermarket works fine. I also read review after review of aftermarket grips being loose on the camera, failing in service, etc. I have no way of knowing how well aftermarket grips work, but I know that the Nikon grip works, fits the camera, and seems very sturdy. I recommend that you look at reviews for both aftermarket and Nikon grips on B&H, Adorama and Amazon and then you will have the benefit of a lot of experience of others

I am a new member. I have taken snapshot photos for many years, but recently have begun to really work on improving my photography. I shoot Nikon. My first DSLR was a D70. I graduated to a D5100 and recently bought a D7100. I have some good lenses (18-300 DX, 300 mm f4 and 105 mm macro, all Nikon) I have an SB 400 speedlight and just ordered an SB 700. I want to improve in every area of photography, but most particularly in photographing wildlife, doing good macros and improving my understanding of lighting. I welcome suggestions.
