Cool. Grey Jays are such characters. They don't seem to be afraid of people. We got a lot of them around the hunting camp. They liked the cooked hamburger we put out for the flying squirrels.

Hey Yooper2 We get Blue Jays, (Stellar Jays) Clark's Nutcrackers, Crows & Ravens & Seagulls in our West Coast mountains but rarely to never see Gray Jays! Would love to see Flying Squirrels! Thank you so much for replying! Debi.

Cute story telling image. The Jay's new years resolution was to be a hood ornament but he had to settle for the mirror!

Hi Cwilson, I kinda liked him so nice & close rather on the hood....plus as often as birds do the dirty deed can you imagine my windshield? LOL...Walt

You were lucky he used your wing mirror for a resting point thanks for sharing.

Thank you eurobird...we were pretty much the only humans in that particular spot & my towing mirrors are nice & flat & big plus they are heated so I think his feet were warming up! Chuckle...Debi...(Mrs. Mustanger)

It's a delightful image, and made even more interesting by our being able to see your viewpoint on the LCD.

I had one of those fearless, friendly birds walk right across my ham slices on a picnic table, looking for a handout :)

Isn't it great to see so much snow in the mountains this year?!

Thank You Linda!!! You hit the points that made me like this picture too. I see lots of Clark's Nutcrackers up at elevation but have never encountered a Gray Jay before, so I was pretty stoked. He definitely was not afraid & just wanted a handout! So glad you liked it , Debi is shocked at all the pleasant responses & says thank you!

Hi Nikonian!!! Thanks for asking but my only picture turned out way to out of focus! I had the camera in manual & was setup for long distance scenery & could not respond fast enough to get a decent picture... LOL, my wife & her little Canon Point & Shoot saved the day!

This picture was a lucky one by my wife Debi yesterday up at Crater Lake National Park. I liked the humor of her recording me recording our first Gray Jay! We never knew they existed before so this is an entirely new bird for us. This picture is purely for enjoyment & not technical quality! Enjoy

I keep coming back to your pictures! I have two requests:

First may I download them strictly for my personal enjoyment & no other purpose? I would like to even print a couple to frame & hang in my house. But I totally understand if you would rather not. I do not share pics that are not mine.

Second can you post up an ADDITIONAL set of your remaining pictures? I bet your "Losers" are really "Winners" LOL, Thanks. Walt

Best set of pics of these birds I have ever seen! They are one of my favorites because they are so unusually colored & the markings are so different. So glad you included the last one!!! I laughed out loud! But each pic brought a new exclamation it was so well done! LOL, I can only hope one day.

I see pink snow quite often in the high altitudes in the Calif. Sierra Mt. Range. It is caused up there by a microscopic organism that lives in the snow. Very pretty at times. These pictures make me want to go out again & revisit my hikes! Thank you, gorgeous pictures.

I enjoy the old things & often think of the stories they could tell.... I used to teach Morse code to our church youth, we would leave messages on the Blackboard to drive the Pastor crazy! LOL...

I had a system of simple pictures to represent each character...it only took 45 minutes or so & they had memorized each letter! They could read a paragraph & flash a signal in a dark room & receive one. Had a lot of fun.

What more could a Downy Woodpecker ask for, a basket full of suet & a nice Down coat to stay warm! Oh, maybe a napkin to wipe my beak!
