That's one of the reasons I would NEVER, EVER, purchase a home in a neighborhood controlled by one of those damned homeowner's associations.

I live in a HOA community. Our only rule is you must get an OK from the review committee and a vote by the board. We have a few Flag poles in the ground, with a few more mounted on the building sides. They will ask that you replace a worn Flag.

Each community is different. I don't think ours has turned anyone down who wants to install a Flag pole.

My how things have changed ... years ago I would have tried this shot, waited until the film came back and threw away four of the other shots (maybe all, because the first one I took going by the camera meter was too dark) Now I can just shoot away and then adjust on the fly. I could have even saved one of the other shots in Post production if I wanted.

Thank you Pixelpixie! I will try this tonight when I get home. I guess I just needed some moral support. The camera card that you use for copying the update, it can be re-formatted and used in the camera after you have completed the firmware update, is that correct, or do I need a dedicated card to use just for firmware updates? Can you tell I am nervous about this?

It seems a daunting task ... until you actually do it. Use whatever card you usually have in your camera. Get any pictures you want to keep off of it and into your computer. Format the card in camera. Take card out and put into computer and download update and then unpack the new update and move it to the card. (instructions are on the Nikon website for this). Once you have the file on the card remove it from your computer and put it back in your camera. Go to Firmware Version in the Setup menu and then click on update.

I just did two updates. Firmware and Distortion Control Data updates. Did them one at a time formatting the card each time.

Interaction with social media is what the masses demand. The ability to be anywhere in the world, take a selfie, and show your friends where you are is what the millenials crave. I myself am an oldie, but am addicted myself to social media. As phone cams get better and better they will become even more irresistible... and now the watch cams are on the horizon and the beat goes on.

Yes! And the easiest way to post those pictures are when they are taken with a cell phone camera linked to your page. With a regular camera you have to get the photos to your computer (or phone ) to post. It is all about quantity and time as opposed to quality and time spent before you actually post the picture.

So, It uses the same ballast/starter that was in the fixture with the fluorescents?

If the fixture has an electronic ballast, then yes it is a simple replace old lamps with new LEDs ... old type ballast then, no they won't work.

Why would anyone want to do that?

Because they can? This wasn't done on a whim. It was planned, studied and practiced well before that recorded jump.

I suggest you start with Luminar.

Thanks, Mac. I was leaning toward Luminar, but thought I'd check in here first.

I'm at the next step in this learning curve called photography. Software. Since I own a iMac I've chosen Macphun software over Adobe. Trouble is I was set to buy Luminar when I see they have a new product called Aurora. My question for the group is, as someone who is in this for fun and personal enjoyment would Luminar be the logical choice?

A little background. I have a Nikon D3300 and I'm happy with it. I'll never be a professional and really have no interest in becoming one. I've been shooting in JPG and want to start RAW, hence the software. I have the exact opposite of a photographic mind. Unless I do something weekly, I tend to forget how to do it, and while I don't have to start from scratch when I go back to doing something I haven't done in awhile, it does take me awhile to "get it all back."

I'm leaning towards Luminar but I also value the opinions of the Hogs. You have helped in the past and I look forward to seeing your input on this subject.
