Quite frankly if you paid full price for it why did you select an outfit that you now seem to denounce?

There is one born every day. You were born long ago but that was for your not only ill considered choice of re-seller but also your willingness to make yourself appear as the victim of a fraud. Maybe you were, maybe you were not but honestly? It is your fault.

Next time select a reputable dealer.

There ends the non-controversy.

I believe that I bought it via Amazon.com. Therein lies my problem.

Gray market doesn't mean it's a fake. Gray market means the camera was produced for sales overseas and the warranty will not be honored at Nikon repair facilities here. You camera is off warranty, so you have nothing to worry about. Had you needed warranty service, you would either have had to ship the camera to an overseas Nikon repair facility, or paid a US facility to do the work. If you need service in the future, US facilities will take care of it on your dime.

I understand that, Lowkick, however, I still want to know if it is gray market or not. I paid full price for it. I also thought that the USA warranty for Nikon cameras is 5 years????

I have been on my computer all day today looking up various photographic issues, and it dawned on me......did I get a real USA warranty Nikon D7100 from BuyDig.com 2 years ago, or did I get sold a "bill of goods" grey market camera instead. The camera came in the usual gold box, has a serial number on the box, camera, and (1--year) warranty card. All the accessories that one should expect were in the box. Everything appears to be kosher. When I searched the internet for clues on how to tell if I have fake or real, there are only a few ambiguous articles that leave me to still wonder. I don't remember what kind of reputation BuyDig.com had 2 years ago, but I see now that their reputation is not that great. One article suggests that I refer to the first one or two digits of the serial number. But, there is no agreement on that issue either. It would be great, IMHO, if Nikon had a way for us to check the serial number to verify good or grey. If my fellow UHH's have any advice on how to make the determination, I would really appreciate your input.

Like I said, rub some sand or salt spray onto your unprotected lens and then tell me a filter does not offer any protection.

Remember that true macro means 1:1 capture on your sensor, and that can ONLY be accomplished at Minimum Focusing Distance.
To experience this, TURN OFF your Auto-Focus, turn your lens to MFD, then move entire camera & lens toward your subject until you see focus through the viewfinder. NOW take your photo.
With a 60-mm macro lens, you will have only 90-mm (3.5-iches) between lens front element and subject. This is called Minimum Working Distance.
Your flower image above is actually a close-up photo, not a macro-photograph.

Sorry it took a while to get back. Softball tournament this weekend. These shots were all a bit of a mix mash. I was swapping lenses back and fourth on my 7Dii and one thru two if I remember were F 4.5 with a EF 300 @ 1/1600 IS0 100. Shot one I added a little HD effect from Topaz in post.
shots 3,4 and 5 were shot with a 70-200 IS ii @ f3.2 1/2500 ISO 200. The sun was in and out of the clouds that day and when it stayed out for the boys game it was real harsh.

If you want to see a few more from that day check out my Flicker site: https://www.flickr.com/photos/86329203@N08/

I keep getting pop up ads from 42nd St. Photo that provides the great prices for the Sony a7Rmk2 and the Fe lenses. They are all gray market, w/o U.S. warranty. Has anyone made the purchase and if so did the camera or lenses come as new and in excellent working order. Zing

I am submitting two features in this group. My first love, my lovely grandchildren, and secondly the historic "social endeavor" of the coal era of northeastern Pennsylvania. If you would like to see more, original photos, you can see them at this website: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=concrete+city+nanticoke+pa&view=detailv2&&id=AE7A8627F06A256AE50B251E7C44139CFD573F0C&selectedIndex=1&ccid=30Hfkvl3&simid=608019537251404103&thid=OIP.Mdf41df92f9772c87e3c033c418da0ef0H0&ajaxhist=0

The buildings at this location are completely made of concrete and rebar. They were constructed by the coal baron's to house the miners and their families. The miners paid rent directly to the coal company. Any supplies that the miners used were purchased from the coal company store. Every aspect of the miner's lives was to put their earnings back into the pockets of the coal company. Over time, this place has been used, not only by the miner's families of the coal companies, but by graffiti artists and even fire fighting exercises (since concrete will only burn at extremely high temperatures). I personally used the site for my own fire training back in the '70's. thanks for looking!
