[quote=brucew29]I keep hoping for a Cardinal to get closer... even 20-30 feet would be better then 70-80 feet away. I'll keep trying to get one closer! I have an idea but I won't mention it until after I try it.

I have used the sticky velcro in the past on lens caps, the summer heat melts the glue and the velcro falls off and you are left with nasty, sticky residue on the cap that gets all over everything, even your camera case. yuck!

Here what I came up with , simple , and is there all the time what do you think ?

I have a 7000 to , but my problem is , after 15 minutes the camera do not respond to the remote , , I have to re-activate by pressing half way on the shutter release , is that normal ?

Second question , is there anyway to extend the time for the remote past 2 minutes ? Thank you for your help

1. Yes, that is normal. After a few minutes, the camera goes to sleep. There is probably a way to change that in the Menu.

2. If you mean keeping the lens open beyond two minutes, yes, you can. Get a wired remote on Amazon for about $20. Set the shutter to B (Bulb), activate the remote, and lock the button in place. The shutter will stay open until you release the button on the remote.

Thank you Jerry , The best time I can get is 15 minutes for the remote ... I usely leave the camera on a tripod for long periods of time , sometime 1 hour , waiting for the wildlife to show up .
I will take your advice and get a wired remote someplace
