Has anyone had any problems using the ML-L3 IR remote withe the D7000 camera? I have been trying to use it, but get nothing from the rear and only sporadic success from the front.

I am not sure Mac, but I thought there was an update to fix this and other things for the 7000. I don't have that camera. I saw a thread some where about the update. But to many threads ago. :)
You might check the Nikon site. And your welcome for no help. ;)

And it is a help. I didn't know about a fix so now I have a direction to follow.
It's an infrared remote, so I believe there needs to be a line of sight from the remote to the sensor on the camera. My D3000 doesn't allow me to trigger it from the rear, only the front. Maybe the D7000 has a sensor on the back of the camera too, I'm not sure.

Hi Dave. Thanks for responding.
The D7000 has IR receivers on both the front and back. I sent a question to "Ask Nikon" and should hear back from them in 24 hours.
I used mine the other night and had no problems. Looking to hear what Nikon has to say.

I have had problems with mine twice, both times a new battery solved the issues. I use it regularly and have sewn a pocket onto the leg wrap of my 2 main tripods just to keep it handy. Its a wonderful little tool, but SO easy to lose if you drop it in the tall grass. I would almost like to see a lanyard loop on it.

Thanks MT
Is the reason you have replaced the battery twice due to short battery life or because you use it a lot?

I use it quite a big with big lenses on tripods. And the batteries just don't seem to last over 6 months for me.

OK, thanks. That's good to know.
I agree, my experience is that the batteries do not last long even though not used. If ever I have had a problem changing the battery has fixed it. By the way I have a D7000.

My wife has a D7000 and is interested in your follow up post as well. Thanks
I have a 7000 to , but my problem is , after 15 minutes the camera do not respond to the remote , , I have to re-activate by pressing half way on the shutter release , is that normal ?
Second question , is there anyway to extend the time for the remote past 2 minutes ? Thank you for your help

I had to replace the battery in mine when it was working sporadically.
