I have a Mac tower, the best available in 2010 with 1T memory, now over 300G left, that has been maintained and upgraded three times. When I tried to download Mojave, there was a message saying "mohave cannot be installed in this computer", no explanation offered.

Mojave apparently does not support mac hardware of 2010 vintage.

No, really I didn't recommend a medium frame format camera...there are far better Bridge cameras and small digital cameras (mirrorless) that would work far better than iPhone xxx. No doubt the iPhone does take pretty good pictures but again its not on a par with the latest and greatest generations of digital cameras, large or small.

Now if the o p is really into selfies then yes, I would recommend an iPhone with the appropriate iPhone stick...Cheers

Blaster - It appears that you may not be a user of any one of the more recent iPhones, are you? And, by the way, the iPhone camera does more than take selfies. It is also capable of recording beautiful images of various locations or notable events much quicker, easier and more conveniently than carrying around an additional camera. I am not suggesting that one should necessarily replace his/her camera with an iPhone but it certainly is a convenient and sensible option to consider especially when traveling as the O P plans to do.

No smartphone camera ever, Android or even some iPhone XXX in the future, can or will be better than a dedicated large-sensor camera of the same era with interchangeable lenses and with complete control. Trip of a lifetime and you want the best you can get or as close to the best as you can get, stay with a the dedicated cameras.

You know blaster, you've got a good point! Maybe I should have suggested that he would be better off with an 8x10 large format camera that he could carry around for 74 days along with a suitable tripod. I'm sure that he could probably find an appropriate digital back to go with it, unless you think film would be more convenient! However, when I go on my 74 day cruise, I'm going to use my iPhone! But that's just me.

The new iPhone X’s or xsMax would be a great choice. It has a professional-like camera and is well within your budget! Definitely worth a look!

How about an asking price that is what you expect to get for it?

You are correct, a 4K monitor will not work on this computer because the new graphics card is not capable of handling 4K and the power supply is not capable of handling a graphics card that will operate a 4K monitor.

This monitor is a Hannspree 24" LED and it worked fine until a couple of months ago and as I write this it is working quite well. Do gremlins still exist?

I’m OK with “gremlins “ until it stops working again!!

The problem is within the computer which is about 6 years old. What no one has been able to tell me is what part of the computer is screwing up the screen. Any suggestions?

If the monitor is a newer (4K or 5k) monitor, it is possible that the graphics card in your 6 yr old computer may not be appropriate to drive the newer monitor. Have you considered this possibility?

When did this problem first occur? Is this a replacement monitor or the original one you used with that computer?

Make an appointment at the Apple store Genius Bar. There is no charge to have them sit down and review the problem with you in order to hopefully come up with a resolution to the problem.
