Upgraded soon after it was available, no issues for me on my iMac 5k.

I have a Mac tower, the best available in 2010 with 1T memory, now over 300G left, that has been maintained and upgraded three times. When I tried to download Mojave, there was a message saying "mohave cannot be installed in this computer", no explanation offered.

First off, looks like you are calling disk space memory, disk space is disk space, memory is memory, two different things, click on the Apple menu in the upper left of your screen and select about this Mac from the drop down to see all the specs and compare to minimum requirements to Mojave’s needs.

My MacPro dates back to early 2009! To install Mojave Mid-2010 is the earliest possible.

My Memory: 8GB, Storage left: 286MB. , Processor 2.66GHz.
I have El Capitan but was unable to install High Sierra or Mojave.

My MacPro is simply too old! I don't have enough experience to know whether it's worth or even possible to upgrade it.

Actually, the "big deal " for me is running an uptodate OS with the benefits of added security, performance improvements and all that entails...

Big for me was the addition of APFS on Fusion Drives. Prior to Mojave, APFS was not installable for Fusion drives (mixture of spinning and SSD seen as one drive).

Now my 1.2 TB internal Fusion drive is converted to APFS and performance has increased, was it Mojave or APFS - not sure, but I'll take it!

After I first started in with Macs (ca.1990), I followed the common wisdom of the time to NOT upgrade to the first version of a new operating system, waiting all the bugs to be fixed by the second version. For the past decade or so, however, I have followed the new conventional wisdom and upgraded Operating Systems and programs as soon as they come out, with hardly no trouble.
As for computers, I am now on my third Macbook Pro, usually upgrading every 3-5 years, or when "stuff" starts getting difficult on my computer, whichever comes first.
I have upgraded recently to both the new MacBook Pro and Mojave (OS 10.14), with only a minor problem migrating my Contacts, which may have been my fault. I use many Adobe products, and have had not a single problem--except the stinkers changed the way the resizing tool works. I'll live.

I haven't upgraded my MBP yet, but I did investigate whether there's any compatibility issue with respect to Skylum's Luminar application. Evidently, there is one when using it as a Photos extension.

I then consulted the Skylum Community Forum and found the following latest reply to my question: the bug in the Apple Photos extension that occurs if you crop an image in Luminar 2018 (in MacOS Mojave) will be fixed in the November update.

The only general comment I found about Mojave OSX is that, apparently, it requires applications to be 64-bit, not 32-bit. I do not pretend to be a computer expert, so if this last statement is simplistic, please feel free to comment and explain why.

No, Mojave does not require any change to apps--FOR NOW. There is a warning that comes with it that some of your apps may be 32 bit, which IN THE FUTURE (next OS upgrade? a bit further on?) will not be supported. https://www.computerworld.com/article/3269007/apple-mac/what-apples-32-bit-app-phase-out-on-mojave-means-to-you.html

Mojave apparently does not support mac hardware of 2010 vintage.

If you want to make the move to Mojave and have an older Mac, check out http://dosdude1.com/mojave/ Collin created a patch to allow Mojave to run on Unsupported Macs.

I have it running on an iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) and a MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008) with no problems

Since upgrading I cannot e-mail images directly from Lightroom--- have not figured out why.
Everything else seems OK.
