Why do you scratch when you eat burgers?

I go there for the Taco Bell. The bell is not very loud, but the taco is good.

My wife is looking for a point and shoot camera. Her main concern is that it should have an optical viewfinder instead of just a viewing screen. Would be nice if it could fit in a pocket. She has a couple of DSLR cameras, and she is looking for one that she can always have with her. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

I tell my wife to just use her cell phone. It does not have a view finder, but it works, it is always with her, and there is no additional costs.

I am a rank amateur photographer and I take quite a lot of photos (around 1,500 to 2,000 per month). I am the de facto photographer for several music events in my area. (Note: I am frugal in not taking a lot of shots of the same thing.)

My current dilemma is this.

I am completely reliant on my Canon 80D, for which I have several nice lenses and I have been jonesing for a second 80D body and I found a great deal for a used one. The struggle is whether to pull the trigger on my retirement budget. (I can come up with the cash.)

It would mostly be a backup but would also occasionally be used for quick lens changes at various venues.

So, while I can come up with the cash, I am unsure whether I should.

I am sure that some of you here have found yourselves in a similar situation and my question to you is; how important is it to have a backup camera body in a situation such as I have described?

And, yes, I know, ultimately I have to make this decision. I am purely looking for advice from the experienced peeps here.

All the best and I love UHH.

I am not familiar with Canon, but for me I have a full frame Nikon D750 with a DX Nikon D500. I would not call either a "back up" camera, as they both have their own strengths. If your Canon 80D is a full frame camera, I would suggest a DX as a backup. Any FX lens will work great on a DX camera and the DX format will give you added reach when you need it. If your Canon 80D is a DX camera it will make your decision a little more difficult, as you lose quite a bit trying to use DX lenses on a full frame camera and would have the added expense of adding lenses to your arsenal. Good luck with whatever you choose.

The trouble is, some religions do believe peoples' beliefs are the thing to judge people on, and not their deeds. They are proud of the idea that you can't be "saved" by good works alone. You could be the finest, most loving and caring person who always puts the needs of others ahead of their own, but if they don't believe the correct religion, their souls are doomed.

That is the trouble, religion, in my opinion, should simply be a path to follow and a guide to peace and understanding, not a path to correct someone simply because they do not believe the same as you do. There are many ways to accomplish a good and sane life, and they are not correct or incorrect, simply one persons way to cope through life. Live and let live.

I cringe every time an ad for ancestry.com comes on.

Worry not who you came from, but who/what you are as a person. (Yeah, I've been known to scream at the television.)

These people need to focus on what is staring back at them from the mirror. Are they worthy of "person", or are they just another pile of s**t, of which we have enough already.

The t***h is some people need to go to something like ancestry.com because they are so far from their original roots that they do not know what they are, my question would be why do we care? We are what we are today, not who we came from and do not even know. Live your life as you see fit for the world you live in, let your ancestry rest in peace.

Judge not a person by his beliefs or origins, judge a person by his deeds (behavior). There have been many wars fought in this world's history in the name of religion, including today's battle with some Muslims, and the recent shooting at a Jewish facility. This is all so sad. I know Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheist's, and they are all judged by how they act and show respect to others, not religion. There is no concrete of a God of any kind, but there is no concrete of there not being one either. Believe what you will, but treat others with respect and if there is a heaven and an after life, I am sure we will make it there.

I took a trip to the Blueridge Parkway today. Although, I apparently struggled with focus and exposure. I did manage a few decent shots although I was not really happy with most of my shots overall. Thought I would share a few of the better ones. Comments welcome.

We have a Blueridge Parkway in Kansas City, no where near as beautiful as yours. Nice shots.

Hey folks,
I am taking a 5 day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon next May. My hike will start from the North Rim. Since weight is going to be factor, I need to limit my camera equip to a backpack style tripod, a camera body, and 2 or 3 lenses. I have a Panasonic G5, which is older, but I like it. The question is which 2 or 3 lenses to take. I have the kit lens 14-42 and the 45-150, but I was thinking of adding a wide angle zoom. I have put aside a little cash for a new lens or lenses, around $1000. What do you guys who have been there recommend?

My experience with the Grand Canyon is that is more landscape than wildlife, so the lenses you have should be fine. If I just had to add a lens, it would be a 35mm, f/1.4 sigma art lens, great landscape lens. If you purchase, look at KEH for a nice used lens, they usually sell with a warranty, so pretty safe place to buy used equipment from and save a few dollars. Enjoy your trip in the spring.

Don't be stupid. Immigration needs to be legal. All the immigrants passing through Ellis Island were legal. This has nothing to do with the Statue of Liberty!

President Trump is not trying to stop legal immigration, he is trying to stop i*****l i*********n. There is a huge difference. If you truly support i*****l i*********n, let me ask you a question. Would you be willing to open the doors to your house and let in strangers, feed them, educate them, and finance their medical care? If you truly would, then I commend you, but I would not without making sure they have no intentions of harming my family or myself, and that I would truly be able to finance the assistance they would need until they were able to care for themselves. No one is against legal immigration, it is the way of our country, it is the way that every one of our ancestors at some point entered this country unless you are American Indian. What we should be against is aliens that force themselves upon us without going through the legal hoops to become citizens. I truly do not understand why so many cannot or will not understand this basic t***h.

Hi jaymatt, thanks for the tips. I find the manual a challenge but still working on it! No way to watch videos tho - normally, no internet on the boat; on land for winter, in Alaska, now though so have limited net access & hoping to learns loads before spring. I am blessed to have a new Nikon D7200. Also, Chinese-made entry-level 18-140 DX VR & 55-300 DX VR lenses. No tripod, no ext flash, no QR shutter, no Photoshop. Am usually on the boat, cycle or walking, so tripod is a challenge. The camera most likely will always be better than I; the "glass", not so much maybe. Until a couple of months ago I had only ever used a point & shoot (a good one tho; Nikon AW1 with I/C lenses, which I love, especially when cycling around and I always use it in the sailboat's dinghy, as it's waterproof). I love shooting wildlife, flowers, glaciers, temples & shrines, kids, people having a blast at parades & festivals, rock bands and anything low light with no flash. I've been known to wait a long while for a wildlife shot, or even for an empty temple or building view, so it makes sense to make it a good one! Not so much interested in making videos.

Knowing now what you have as far as equipment, congrats on a nice camera. It should last you a long time. There are many you tube videos and on line tutorials. If you ever have the urge to shoot raw, preferred by most, Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop subscription for $10.00 a month is a great deal and a great way to keep up to date on the latest upgrades without needing to go out and purchase a new program. As for glass, always buy the best that you can, even if it means saving a little longer. Try to buy FX lenses as you may use FX lenses on a DX camera such as yours, but you cannot very well use DX lenses on a FX camera if you should decide to upgrade in the future, which many do. If you are in Alaska you have lots to shoot, just be careful of the bear. A famous saying up there, "Meals on wheels" for bicyclists when it comes to bears. Happy shooting.
