Not my reply. Someone else posted. I'm not that person who replied.

I had quoted JD750 - I don't know why he felt the need to write, "sorry too rich for me."

When you say it is too big, is that too big for your body size? How tall are you? Are you petite? Just trying to get a greater understanding to see if it is something that would work for me or not.
Thanks!

Ok, so what is the point of your reply?

Look for CanonEosDigitalInfo_v1.4_SDK_v2.14
That may do the trick

Specifically for Windows machines. I use a Mac. I should have stated that at the beginning. Thanks!

I do not have a 5D IV sadly, but I do use EOSmsg. I have found it reliable and useful. The website can be displayed in English and it claims to support the 5D IV.

http://www.eosmsg.com/#model

It used to be free, supported by ads, now I believe there is a small fee.

Good luck

Apparently, their download does not work with Safari. Their website is not easily understandable, even in English. They have many download buttons, but most take you off their site to download some other software. When I finally found the correct button to download, the files wouldn't open with my computer responding "Safari unable to open files."

This is a new camera, so why would you be worried about the shutter count? I have shot Nikon and Canon bodies, seemingly to death, and have never had a shutter problem. It is like driving a car with high mileage that has been well taken care of, it just keeps going.

I never stated that I was worried about the shutter count. I am interested in the number because I have used the camera to shoot sporting events at my kids high school since I purchased the camera in September. I just wanted to know for my own personal reasons. Between football, lacrosse, and track n field I have taken a lot of pictures and just wanted to know how many. Just like my car, my camera gets a lot of use! Thanks for your opinion though!

You might want to google about the over heating issue with the Sony A9. I don't think it is a problem for everyone, but there is a documented problem when using the A9 for sports out of doors.

UPDATE: I spoke with a tech at the Canon Service Center and according to the tech there is no way for the consumer to find the shutter count themselves. Only Canon Service is able to provide the information. According to the tech, Canon only wants Canon to get to the shutter count information. Canon will provide the information if you send your 5D IV into them for service.

I guess that is probably the best way to find out. Thanks!

I guess what I am wondering is... can only Canon obtain the shutter count for the 5d iv?

Try this:

Canon EOS Digital shutter count - $3.99

Their website specifically states that it does not work with the 5D Mark IV, thanks for trying!

You link is a file download. I first went to www.eosmsg.org and the site is all in Japanese except for the names of cameras. I do not think that I will risk downloading a file when I can not read the website.
Thanks for your efforts!

I have tried a couple of different programs (EOS Shutter Count and ShutterCount) and the message I get is "5D Mark IV does not provide a shutter count." Is this something Canon has changed and we are not able to check the shutter count ourselves? Anyone in the know?

Thanks!
