According to ProGrade Sony has a low resolution format that ProGrade's recovery program cannot help. Nothing about this when they sell you the memory cards.

"Sony has a low resolution format that" anyone know more about this?

Typical throughout the SW Pacific. Not a lot of $$ for infrastructure upgrades.

A similar issue has appeared after some firmware updates, but is more commonly related to third party batteries.

This from the article:

Note: If you receive this warning on the screen even when using your original NP-FZ100 battery, it’s a sure sign that you actually have a counterfeit!

My thoughts also. There have been reports of counterfeits infiltrating the supply stream.

FYI-
If you want people to be able to find the thread in a UHH search, you'd be better off with a title of something like "What is this banding in my photos?" instead of "Befuddled".
NO ONE will search for befuddled.

It is likely the locking pin which can NOT be dislodged with a wrench! I would try a tiny drop of lubrication to the release mechanism and give it time to seep into the working bits. Then depressing the release latch repeatedly while rotating both directions, with luck the pin will pop out of the hole and it will be free. Wipe up any remains of the teeny-tiny droplet.
