Trying to find past discussions on camera repairs on UHH with no luck. My situation-- have a grey mkt teleconverter stuck to a USA Nikon D800 body which Nikon will not repair because of grey mkt attachment. Could someone recommend reputable repair shop to deal with my problem? Thank you.
Have you tried a lens wrench. They are sold on Amazon. I have several sizes and used them twice.
If you don't care about the teleconverter, a wrench-wrench like a vice-grip or even a plumber's wrench might do the trick.
Try placing a couple of thicker rubber bands on the converter and give it a (twist) try. It's worked for me whenever I tried it. Good luck.
It is likely the locking pin which can NOT be dislodged with a wrench! I would try a tiny drop of lubrication to the release mechanism and give it time to seep into the working bits. Then depressing the release latch repeatedly while rotating both directions, with luck the pin will pop out of the hole and it will be free. Wipe up any remains of the teeny-tiny droplet.
I noticed that you're "North" i.e. Canada.....however if you don't mind looking south KEH.com offers a solid repair business, unsure if they have facilities in Canada.
Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help if possible.
I'd be more than happy to repair the problem for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message.
Thanks to all for your suggestions--this tele is really stuck on the camera so am going to sent it out for repairs.
Hope to save the body even if have lose the teleconverter.

Look for a little button somewhere.
I had the same issue- wouldn't come off my D3200!
I found the button by mistake. Didn't tell nobody ... till now.
