I have been reading some posts about bad Photograph shops, and noticed that they weren't named & shamed. This seems a pity not naming them.

I go to an excellent photographic shop in Auburndale Florida (I am not naming them in case it is against forum rules).
This a family run business, no pressure sales just good honest advice.

Yes I probably pay a little more, but the service more than makes up for it.

Hi ShelterCove, I am new to this hobby and have been reading as many articles as I can, on lots of different websites in an attempt to learn more. When I found "Ugly hedgehog" I was so impressed with the amount of advice and posts on this site that I joined.
I decided to register on the forum to be able to ask questions and get feedback, so far everyone has been very helpful. So don't give up on the site just because of a small rude minority. Look at the good guys on here who have a lot to offer and give their advice freely. Take from the advice what you need and just ignore the ignorant ones, they are not worth worrying about.
I would also echo your thanks to all who share their knowledge so freely, a big thank you to all of you.

I'm so disappointed in how many times some people are downright rude in this group. I joined so I could learn more about photography, not to be assaulted by bad behavior. A person asks a question about something they don't know about and before you know some of the responders are having a shoutin' match.

There are so many areas where there is no right or wrong. It's OK. Opinions differ but that doesn't mean you have to be Ugly about it.

There is a big difference between giving constructive criticism and being a nasty critic. Remember that old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all"? That's where the constructive part comes in. Find a way to provide feedback without being a jerk.

(Flack helmet now on!)

P.S. The utmost respect and admiration to the many who willingly share their knowledge, always have a kind word, and who go above and beyond with details, and links, and fixing images, and answering the same question more than once, and pointing a person to a prior topic, and making people feel welcome.

I know this subject has been discussed somewhere on "the hog" before.
I want to digitize my old family photos and slides. I was thinking of buying an "Ion 35mm Photo Negative and Slide Converter to PC"
for the slides & negatives.

What do you recommend?

Hi everyone I live in Florida and am just starting in photography. I am trying to learn & pick up advice.
I am progressing from a Canon SX20is and have just purchased a refurbished Canon EOS Rebel T1i with a Canon 18-55 lens and have also purchased a used Tamron 28-200.

I will hopefully buy more lenses & equipment as I progress and the wife will allow.

I have enjoyed reading the topics and looking at the photo's on the forum.
I took these photos with my SX20 last year.
Any advice is welcomed.

Geof
