Its unfortunate that some people are too lazy or inept that they need to steal another's work. However, that watermark could easily be removed. It would only slow them down.

Great download BTW.

An up to date i-phone would blow these photos out of the water. Today's cell phones are perfectly adequate for the average person. They will never compete with DSLRs because they would have to be much larger to accommodate the sensors, lenses and manual settings necessary to do so. And cell phones are not good in low light. It is expected that P&S cameras will be discontinued shortly because most cell phones equal them in photo quality. But who knows what future technology will bring with DSLRs.

Cell phones are improving with each generation. The future is uncertain but who knows; they may eliminate more than just P&S cameras.

Shot our living room this evening. The lighting is tricky but I like the results.

Got a new version of Windows 10 Home today and installed it. It took several hours.

Decided to try NX-I again. I have saved on a thumb drive.

It worked this time and NX-D does too and neither one runs slow.

It appears that the culprit is windows.

I bet smart phones are smarter than a lot of people. That's why they avoid them.

Nikon responded and gave me a new link to their latest version that combines both NXi and NX-D. Both are new versions.

My result and reply back to Nikon.

Downloaded the combined program on the HP windows 10 Home computer. It downloads and installs. NXi would not open just as before. NX-D opened and ran but it was so slow to be of any practical value. I did not create a new admin since even if it worked the work flow would be impractical. View NX2 runs fine on this machine. Not slow.

I also tried the combined program on the custom machine. It would not load, got the same message as in initial post. Down loaded the single version of the new NX-D program on this computer and it down loaded, installed and runs just fine.

The never ending saga continues...

Cell phone sensors

The quality of images that are produced from these small sensors is amazing. The new crop of smart phones are even better.

Considering that most images from C-phone users are just viewed in camera or posted on social media they are more than adequate.

The major failing of these camera phones is that bright sun makes it almost impossible to see anything on the viewing screen. But then most cameras without a view finder have the same issue.

I'm not about to retire my D810 or 800E but my cell phone has advantages too.

Can't make calls, text, email, research, get directions, play music or carry my Nikons in the pocket.

Just don't understand these myopic opinions.

Hello, I am going to a Christmas party and was wanting some opinions on which lens might be the best to take. I just purchased the Nikon D810 and only have had it a few days and haven't really had a chance to shoot both lenses. It will be indoors and have no clue about the lighting and not wanting to take a flash, so I am leaning toward the 24-70. Anyone have any experience with this lens on an 810?
Thanks.

Since it is indoors and you are not using flash I think the f2.8 would be a better option that the longer FL.

The Bald Eagle and the Gull were shot on the same day with the Canon 5Dsr and the smaller bird was shot on a different day with the Canon 7D Mk2. These were all shot with the Canon 100-400 II lens with the Canon 1.4x III extender. Hand held as always.

It was a bit of a cat and mouse game, although our roles were reversed. The bobcat played the role of mouse, and I was the cat.

I was out hiking, yesterday, and, while descending a hill, I saw some motion, in the distance. It was a bobcat, going up the hill I was coming down.

One of the reasons I love photographing bobcats is that they don't usually bolt, immediately. I can often persuade a bobcat to pose for me, for a little while. Sometimes, the cat wants to make me work for it. Yesterday was such a day.

There are a lot of pictures that accompany this tale, but most of them are looking at the south end of a northbound bobcat. The cat would periodically stop, and check up on me, as if to make sure I was still following her. I followed this cat for approximately one-half hour. I would occasionally lose her, but she'd make sure I found her, again. She did stop, and allowed me to take a lovely portrait, and then took off, again. I kept following until she finally went down a gorge that I just couldn't enter. It was a lot of fun.
