I'm trying to install View NX-I. View NX2 and Capture NX-X are installed.

The downloaded file opens but when it is supposed to uninstall View NX2 an error message comes up and its stuck in a loop. Does not install.

Uninstalled view nx2 manually but still the same error. Message attached.

I have contacted Nikon Support but too soon for response.

Anyone have solution?

Clean the registry from any nikon reference that is not a codec.
I would start with the software name.

Try IObit Uninstaller. A free program.

Thanks Ron but I have done that but I'll try it again just in case I missed something.

Thank you.

I hate to install these type of programs but I might if nothing works.

I routinely clean the registry after installing a program which is better than most uninstall programs.

Try reinstalling NX 2. Could be something got messed up at the point it should have been uninstalling it.

Thanks I've done that more than once already.

After three more attempts to install this program, including stripping the registry, reinstalling View NX2, downloading new View NX-I file, etc. was unsuccessful.

Tried to install it on another computer running Win 10 home it went through the installation process, removed View NX2, setup icons but would not open.

Googled the problem and found another with the same issue but no solution. Nikon says View NX-I is Win 10 compatible but its apparent that they have not done their home work.

Got an auto email from Nikon thanking me for contacting them but nothing more so far.

... a little off topic, but how do you clean the registry ?

Run regedit. Search for it with file explorer.

Go to drop down menu to find. Enter the item you are looking for. Usually the name of the program just deleted. It will take you to a line which you carefully delete.

Then go to find next on the menu and repeat the process as many times as it takes to go through the registry.

Repeat the entire process searching for the company name of the software you just delete. You will find all sorts of stuff left behind after deleting a program.

All that stuff slows the computer down. Regedit is not for the faint of heart. A mistake could cause the computer to not run properly or not at all.

Run disk clean and check clean up system files. If you have a hard drive it takes a long time. SSDs are much faster. You will also recover disk space with disk clean , often quite a bit. Disk Clean is relatively harmless unless you delete the recovery files. But that will only limit the recovery points.

I do not recommend this for people with limited computer skills. Most people are better off to purchase a program to do this for you automatically. Although these programs deposite their own crap in the registry. And never let anyone control your computer remotely.

Be careful friend. I learned the hard way.

Thanks for that explanation Joer.

I've used Regedit many times to stop a program from running at start-up.

But yes, I will proceed with caution. Thanks.

The best way I have found is to download and install a utility named CCleaner. It will delete all temporary files generated by your PC as well as clean the registry. Used it successfully for years. Keeps my PC from having issues such as the one described in this post.

I'm game. Do you use Win 10 and have View NX-I running?

I had similar problems and used IObit Uninstaller, when I tried to load them in Win 10. Problem solved.

What I don't understand is:

To install View NX-I, View NX2 needs to be installed.
I have uninstalled NX2 manually (actual several times) cleaned the registry thoroughly and NX-I will not install. I've tried with NX2 installed and still no success.

I even tried it on a different W10 version with out success.

Do have NXi running on w10?
