Wow. I had just recently convinced myself that if I ever did get my conceal-and-carry I would most likely go with a .45 auto, with a .380 auto as a backup. After checking out the specs on this I think I just changed my mind. Would want to go with the version with 3" barrel that handles up to 3" .410 mag rounds. 5 rounds alternating of .45 LC and .410 mag with 000 buckshot can't help but get the job done.

I bought some 3" shells and they are slightly too long.

That's the one I have. The smaller one is the Public Defender and has a shorter handle. Check out the Smith and Wesson Governor. It shoots the 410, 45 long colt, and also the 45 acp using moon clips. It holds 6 rounds, where the one I have holds 5. With a belt holster my jacket covers it, and so will my shirt. 410 Rifled slugs cost the same as 45 LC.

It does cost a bit more

Interesting patterns. Great photos. I took a handgun course after I turned in my M-1 lots of years ago. GAS took over and I acquired a .38, .45, .380, .22, 9mm, and a 12 gauge shotgun. I also have some snake rounds in my kit. I do my best work with the .38 at 50 feet. Kind of like using a 50mm lense at f/11.

I spent about $1,000 for the gun and ammo so that's enough for this month. I think I better wait until next month to buy the Glock 19 or 21 I have been looking at.

I swore I would never own a gun after I was discharged. But I took a conceal carry course a couple of weeks ago, and bought a Taurus Judge today. It shoots 410 shells and 45 long colt. I was curious to see what the home defense shells would do. They have a 41 cal slug and two 35 cal round balls. I think its not bad shooting after about 35 years.
Sorry for shooting up a cutie, but if I shot up a terrorist I figured the bleeding hearts on here would give me the what for.
I actually bought it to kill snakes and other critters that snarl at me in the forrest behind my house when I walk thru taking pictures, and to kill that dog that bit me if I ever lay eyes on it again. So you animal rights guys, I don't care.

First five shots at 21 feet, the rest at 45 feet

At 21 ft: Upper Body with 410 9shot and 410 Triple Defense. Pink T-shirt 45 long Colt.

I saw my VA Dr yesterday. Asked her about test results from my sleep study I did half a year ago. She sent me to the sleep lab and I was given a cpap to take home. I stopped by the Green team and talked with a counselor, I took someone's advice and told her everything, she wants me tested for ptsd and is setting some other things up for me.

As a retired, disabled veteran I have three pieces of advice: 1) Do not discuss your condition (s) on a social forum of any sort, especially with the level of detail you're delving into. It's highly doubtful you will receive any beneficial advice here. I recommend that you research military forums that deal with various disability topics where you can read past threads that address your concerns. This will allow you to seek answers to educate yourself without disclosing any personal information. 2) Contact local veteran organizations such as the VFW or American Legion to meet with one of their service officers that help vets get the disability ball rolling for you. They are the people you can and should talk to, not folks on a public forum of any sort; especially a photography forum. You'll get a bunch of meaningless, unrelated BS responses to the extent that you'll want to shoot yourself with a Canon, only to worsen your depression when it dawns on you that you are of the Nikon or Sony persuasion. Your state and county should have veteran affair resources also. The availability of any of these resources are plentiful, depending on your geographical location, your mobility to gain access to those services, among other considerations. 3) No one can tell you what the VA or anyone else will decide or what action they will take on any given situation. However, service officers can advise you on the disability claim process so you know what to expect after your claim is submitted, how to submit and support your claim, etc. ThesE people

Thank You Dan, I hadn't thought of talking to the VFW or Foreign Legion.

Continuing from my first post.
Several of you told me I had PTSD and to get tested. I called the crisis line and they are setting me up to see a psychiatrist. If I am diagnosed with PTSD does that mean they grant a disability? How does that affect my current employment? What do I need to know when I go into this in order not to screw it up?
The person I talked to told me to listen to some guided meditation on youtube. I feel so much better after doing so. I imagine if I tell them that they will say I am okay. Just what do I need to be prepared for?
If I tell them I have suicidal thoughts, which I do quite often, but always deny it when they ask, will they lock me up in the psyche ward?

I did the sleep study a few months ago. I fell asleep during the first half, and thought I fell asleep the second half but they said I didn't. I will ask about that next Friday at my follow up appt. I called the crisis line a about 2:00 this morning, asked about talking with someone, a social worker is supposed to call me tomorrow or Monday.

Sometimes I wonder who dreams these things up. I guess someone who got tired of sticking an umbrella handle in their pocket.

I actually have a follow up appointment with my VA Dr next Friday. I think I will talk to her abut this.
I was given the PTSD assessment by a social worker at a VA clinic. I met with a group for a while before we moved.
I had a 50% disability when I was discharged, but it was changed to 10%.

Mary Kate is on the right track when she suggests the power of prayer. For my part I'd suggest that you find yourself a kind, compassionate, Bible-based church and join the fold. Embracing Jesus, and sincere prayer cost nothing, but the benefits are immeasurable. May God Bless you Brother. John

I am a minister John. I don't know if my faith helps or not. I wonder if I actually chose this career to find forgiveness.

Was in Viet Nam for 6 1/2 years. Attitude always good, tempered with booze.

I need pills to sleep at night, and doze during the day. Extremely emotional and eyes tear up at any type of emotional event, activity, even hearing the National Anthem or Taps.

Don't know if it was from Viet Nam or just getting older (75 in June)

Hang in there and think good thought every day with loved ones, human or animal.

Stay Hard my friend.

The National Anthem and Taps do that to me too.

Recently I have been having dreams that are getting to me. Most involve guns of one kind or another. They are violent and I wake up scared. I am feeling depressed and irritable most of the time and don't care about much at all. Several times a day I feel my eyes watering. And I cant seem to stay awake for more than a few hours until I just have to take a nap, so I am not sleeping well at nights either. It was like this after I was discharged but then I knew the dreams were directly related to Vietnam. Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else is experiencing something like this? The only thing I think that is keeping my sanity is my dog and my grand daughter. The VA says I don't have PTSD, but they have me on meds for depression.
Thanks everyone
