Linda Thanks for the help and replies. Sometimes I think 1 second camera sees a mix match in color and it throws it into vertical. Once I did look immediately at the screen it was horiz. thin flipped to vert. I thought what the heck! I'm almost 70 years old just learning all the new digital jingle and blitz, it is hard enough to comprehend. Yes easy to just rotate 90 degrees, but some days you just can not help but wonder what the HECK!
Thank once again

Sorry, brain cramp or typo. I don't think your settings have anything to do with this.

Did you read my link from my earlier comment? The reason I provided that is because I'm reminded of the auto-rotate function that, if I recall correctly, tried a time or two to rotate my own pics (Canon T3i) when it wasn't "obvious" which way was up It could also be a function of your editing program doing the rotate as they're downloaded to your computer.

How often does this happen?

Yes did check out the link you sent that is what is in the manual, finally found it. This is being done with camera as shown on LCD screen when previewing. I use Photoshop to download pictures. Only had the camera for 3-4 months only has done this a just few times, taken over 700 pics already, seem like it mostly does this in the manual modes.

Just for future reference, you have about 1 hour to edit your post and photos that are included so you do not have to repost the same entry multiple times.

Thanks Racmanaz I had to chuckle on that one, with the day I have needed that

Is 0742 vertical also, or just 0745?

Check this info about auto-rotate:

Thanks for the reply, 744 is the vertical 745 is horizontal. Was having trouble uploading to forum took three tries.
Trying to take picture of ice pellets. Both are in Evaluative Metering, Aperture - Priority AE mode, also switched to ISO 800 in 745
The 744 was ISO 400 Shutter speed 1/50, the 745 was ISO 800 Shutter speed 1/100.
Both taken within seconds apart and both have the same 2.3mb in size.

Having a problem can not figure out why camera is doing this. Camera is a Canon Rebel T6. Why is it that I take two pictures of same object, and one is Vertical format and the second one is Horizontal? Even shoot with camera in horizontal pose for both. Have come across in manual a while ago but now can not find it. Uploading two pictures from monitor (freeze frame) with info to help. Had camera only three months, new to digital photography.

I recently read that when life gets discouraging or challenging, it helps to think of a happy time & place and retreat there for a while. I have taken that a step farther and created a photo folder called "Escape." It is a constantly changing collection of beautiful landscapes, happy children, pets, wildlife, etc., who will continue to be beautiful and/or happy regardless of how my petty problems are resolved. I go there often and review what I have saved. Some of the photos are from UHH members. I hope you're OK with that. They go on my tablet and stay for a short time before I delete them and find some others to enjoy. If this is overstepping what you would like done with your pics, send me a PM and I'll be sure to not use your work. Otherwise, thanks for making my problems go away -- even for a little while.

I have done the same thing with my desktop (use with screensaver) a few years ago. I have 2 dogs, love airplanes, fast cars, I am an EMT, and have 2 grandchildren. All these plus nice landscapes are used for this purpose also, and some old old photos of family members. It helps lift the spirit. Feel free to use mine if you wish.

Silhouettes are not necessarily profiles of people. If course, I expect to see those if you have such subjects, and also pets. Come on and open my eyes, fellow Hoggers!

Don't know if this fits, but than? What do you think?
