Thank you to everyone that responded to my question. Very much appreciated.

It seems the consensus is NOT to use a Variable ND but stacking fixed ND and CPL is fine. I had been considering purchasing a variable ND but you have helped me decide against that.

Thanks again. Great to have you folks as such a valuable resource.

So, taking a photo of waterfall and water pool.
Use an ND filter to get fluffy water. Can one or should one use a CPL as well to cut reflections and enhance sky?

In other words will an ND do this anyway and is there any issue with using both types of filters together?

Any advice?

Having an issue and wondering if anybody else is and has somebody found a fix:
I use a 2015 MacBook Pro to process photos with Lightroom, using a second 27 inch monitor. Both are calibrated often. Lately, whenever I turn on or “wake up” my MacBook, the brightness is turned all the way up and I have to turn it down; sort of defeating the whole idea of calibrating it. It is NOT on “auto brightness” etc. anybody else having this issue?

I have a 2016 15” MacBook Pro and mine does not do that. Once I set it with calibration then the brightness stays at that level. I would book an appointment with the “genius” at an Apple store if you have one nearby as once you set your brightness it should stay there.
I in fact have the opposite problem. After using Lightroom at the calibrated level, which works fine, and then go back to other computer work such as spreadsheets, then I have to turn the brightness back up for my aging eyes.

My question really is this. In which country/countries do cameras prices are less than that in the USA so that they can buy gray market cameras?

So you are asking how and where do they get their gray market cameras in the first place? The follow up questions are 1) why are they cheaper from that source and2) can’t Canon control that source chain?

I'm thinking about having a jigsaw puzzle made from one of my photos. This is a very popular image that would probably sell a couple of hundred puzzles. The question is, there is one person in the photo, how much compensation is normally paid to that person. She allowed me to take the photo, but wants some type of compensation if I sell puzzles of the image.

At this point I think you have three options:
1) Photoshop her out
2) Retake the photo without her
3) agree a royalty of $x per puzzle.

How about if you turn the mode to Auto. Does that return everything to normal for a stranger to use without BBF?

Another way to solve this is to make sure when you originally copy your photos from the camera or card that you do not put them into the Photos program. Put them into a separate folder system then when bringing the into LR use the “Add” function. This will Add the info on where to find the photo from the catalog rather than importing the actual photos to LR.

I may be wrong but I suspect what is happening is that you also have Apple Cloud (iCloud). Your photos are synced and stored in the cloud. So when you delete from LR and select disk then they do In fact delete from disk but then they are automatically copied back down again from iCloud so they are synced again. Disconnect syncing with iCloud and see if that works. However that will still not delete them from iCloud.

I got a notification when it was shipped from overseas and then got one or two more notifications about where it was - the last notification gave the expected delivery date.

Many thanks for your reply. Guess I’ll check with support again with a more detailed message

Did you get notified when it was in shipment? I was an early adopter on Kickstarter and have still not received mine. I have checked with their tech support a couple of times and just get told they are shipping. So wondering if they or the shipper let’s you know when they have shipped?
