Just returned from Venice. Before going I committed to leaving my DSLR kit behind and shooting only with my IPhone 13 Pro. I was very nervous because I had never been to Venice, don’t know when I might return if ever and didn’t want to be disappointed about missing shots. On the other hand I was looking forward to not being weighed down by my dslr and lenses. This is the Gondolas of San Marco. Editing was done in Lightroom on my phone. I have not had a chance to open the images up on the larger screen of my desktop yet to clean them up with final edits. I am not unhappy with the results.

Can someone explain how and why this photo could be better if taken with a good DSLR or mirrorless camera? (Serious question)

Jerry, I'm getting worried about you talking about doing something to speed up the power lift part of your chair. I see images of jet pilot ejection seats....

Recliners are fine for relaxing or sometimes sleeping semi upright because of surgery or airway issues, but I am not a fan of lift chairs. As a physical therapist, I see too many people get lift chairs because it is becoming harder to come to stand from sitting. If you are completely unable to stand on your own without a boost, then lift chairs may be a viable choice of preserving independence. However, if you are starting to have difficulty with coming to stand, the struggle becomes important. The use it or lose it philosophy is real here. The effort required to stand is critical to maintaining the ability to stand. Once you relinquish the struggle, then you will get weaker that much more quickly. If you get to the point where you are unable to stand on your own, consider seeing a therapist first, if you are still debilitated enough then you can consider a lift chair assuming you are still able to ambulate and are interested in continuing to do so. Recliners fine, Lift chairs be very wary.

Beware of doing biz with LaZboy

Funny you should say that. I had a bad experience with a LazBoy store. Misleading information and difficulty in contacting the store.

Thank you all for replying. Interesting comments and experiences. So I'm not the only one having trouble with these chairs.

Jerry, good you got a couple of chairs to fix - we wouldn't want you to get bored!

We're in the market for lift chairs/recliners. A most frustrating experience. Trying out a chair in a furniture showroom is the way to go but availability is limited, especially of chairs for tall people. There is a much larger selection online but how do you know the chair is a good fit and that the material and color are to your liking?

Another problem is the difficulty of getting solid information. A company like MCombo is registered in the U.S., but is it owned by the Chinese? Red Barrel Studio has a nice looking chair but I can't find anything on the company or where the chairs are made.

We've gone to stores like LazBoy, Rooms-to-Go and Ashley. And I've spent hours poring over the offerings of online sellers like Amazon and Wayfair.

Any of you have experience with and advice buying recliners, especially online?

ISO was already in use by 1984 when he passed away but of course few people used that term back then. But any way the reason he never talked about the triangle was NOT because the ISO or ASA can't be changed easily in the film days. But rather it's not an important topic. You don't need the whole book about the triangle.

How many pages will be dedicated to this info from 2015?

Could the rules possibly have changed since then?

And the rules are easy to understand. I don't understand why so many folks are having trouble understanding them....

"Banned RAW files" and photos that were processed from RAW photos are different.
"Processed" seems to be the keyword here, it appears that they want the original JPEG from the camera, unprocessed.

I agree with your interpretation (supported by David Martin's post). The issue is not RAW but how the JPEG is created. RAW processed to JPEG in the camera is OK, RAW processed to JEPG in an external editor is not OK.

Makes sense to me. Creating the JPEG with an editing program offers too much of an opportunity for manipulating the image compared to "straight-out-of-the-camera".

I totally understand what you're saying. Photography has become a passion in my later years and though I have several Nikon flagship DSLRs, I purchased this amazing Hasselblad CM strictly to further my education in this wonderful hobby with this beautiful vintage camera and first and foremost to have fun. It's also nice to own the camera that was on the Apollo mission to space. As I've said in a previous post, this Hasselblad is almost too beautiful to shoot. There's still so much to learn but I don't want to put a damper on this wonderful adventure by getting bogged down in technicalities, if that makes sense. My DSLRs will always be my go to cameras and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm not going to develop film. I would rather spend that time learning exposure manipulation with film and outsource the developing. I might experiment with scanning but that will be the extent of it. I will say again that I can't thank my faithful Hedgehogers for ALWAYS responding with endless knowledge and help, ALWAYS.

In my humble opinion, and as others have said, forget about the Zone System if you're not going to develop your films. Read about it for fun and education. And concentrate on learning about and using that magnificent engineering product you acquired.

I played around briefly with the Zone System in my younger days when I had a darkroom. I quickly realized it wasn't compatible with my type of shooting.

Enjoy that beautiful Hasselblad 500C that someone here called an "antique". Boy, does that make me feel old! 😳
