I also use the Sigma 10-20MM lens on my Nikon D7000 and have never had an issue with it. I would recommend it highly. I continue to use Nikkor lenses on my film cameras but went the Sigma route when I first went digital.
I've been very happy with three lenses I've purchased.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I guess I'll just take a road trip up to Nikon Authorized Service http://www.nikoncamerarepair.com/ and see what they have to say about it. While they do digital, they cannot be beat for what they can do with "F" cameras. Joe is the owner and from Japan as are all of the techs, they know the cameras inside and out.
I have Nikkor lenses from the 60's that I can get to work with every Nikon I have, this one is just a puzzle for it should work with the F4.
Anyone interested in a Nikkor - P 1:8 800MM? This was the lens that you saw at Cape Canaveral for the original Mercury missions, just shy of 32" long. It is a two piece lens, a focusing housing and then the lens. There was also a 600MM head but I've never come across one.
I guess we have to keep searching, for the other AF lenses I have work fine, and this lens works fine on a D7000. It is an older lens, made in the 90's as I recall.
I recently purchased the AF Nikkor to use on my F4 body but cannot get the AF feature to work. The lens works fine with my D7000 but I really wanted to use it with the F4 & B&W film. The 50MM AF-S 1:1.8 works fine on the F4 so I'm wondering if I am missing something. Any and all thoughts appreciated.
Are you looking for an overall light meter or a specific flash meter?
I don't know the value of the cameras in question but if anyone has a Nikon that needs repair I would recommend http://www.nikoncamerarepair.com/ in IL. I've been there several times and they have rebuilt my Nikon F and PTN meter and helped me with issues that I had with my first digital D70. They also have rebuilt/refurbished lenses & cameras and I've been delighted with every transaction I've had.
