It was after 4:30 and I needed to get to the store and that meant a 30 mile trip when I knew that we were going to have a sunset worth photographing. It is winter, of course, and those good sunsets are rare. I hated leaving my beloved (and over photographed) lighthouse but sometimes life has other priorities. Where I was going had a lighthouse too, with a small detour but my timing (stopping along the way to photo other things) meant I was not going to make it there on time. I was already on a route I do not know well and was wondering where I could stop and get some of the color I saw starting on the lake. I had forgotten there was a state park on my route and I came upon it at the right time. Oh, my 30 minute normal travel time to the store became almost 2 hours, but I am ok with it.
I edited the photos very carefully because I wanted to preserve how naturally beautiful the colors were that night, so vibrant and definitely, so very awesome.
Beautiful, fantastic detail!!
Can you chose the "store original" when you upload the revision?
Beautiful!! Sorry to hear that time and tide took its toll on it, but it is nice to have photo memories.
It looks like the gator photo the focus was a on the trees behind though.

yes, pretty much every shot that I had the chance to compose and focus on what I wanted, came out well. In magnification, all held up pretty well. You do need to download on UHH to appreciate the details.
I did download them and they look very good. That is why I asked on the keeper rate, which sounds like you are doing very well.
You have some great shots here. Are you happy with your "keeper" rate as far as shots in good focus?
You have a gorgeous sky and reflection!! However, it is hard to see the egrets etc., I wonder how it would look if you brought up some of those details.
She is beautiful!! I looked at the download - not much detail there, I was hoping to see more. Either way, congrats, she is just lovely!!

The Great Lakes are more like inland seas then lakes.
That is very true. The high water levels we have now and high winds are really taking a toll along the shores. Some homes have been lost, some road are not safe, and many of those with lakeshore property are funding costly projects to try and save their land and homes.

Knew the western shore of MI very well in 1957. I was stranded there for several days until the fog lifted and the small boat could return to pick me up.
Oh my. Thank you for sharing that history! Wow!
