Thrifty P.J. needs to know whether it is smarter to buy a low-count D7000, have Nikon Service replace the sensor or spend the $$ buying an FX body. And if I have only 9K shots left what happens after 150XXX uses? Thank You ( and so does my wife!!)

Thank You to all who welcomed me. Looks and sounds like many kindred souls. Point me in the right direction please.....I just purchased Adobe Photoshop, but it seems like I could use a tutorial or 7. Does Creative Live offer this?? Adios.....P

A newbie to the world of photography I decided a few months ago that I needed a "new" hobby. Influenced by many friends (with cameras) made it an easy choice. BUT the dilemma was (or is) that I'm a gearhead who loves the trinkets. So I bought a nice new Canon SX50 HS. Then I accessorized it to the hilt (not much available). Then I bought a tripod. Then I bought a (used) Nikon D7000. Then I accessorized it (to the hilt..$$$$$). Then I purchased several tutorials. Then I discovered FX. Now I'm in the hunt for a D810. Oh yes...all the while shooting, shooting and shooting. I've already done 3 photo-essays ( sailboats, vintage cars, and vehicle design). Can you guess my lifelong hobby attractions?
My bride supports this mania, knowing that when not working (I'm semi-retired) I need to get out of the house. It sure works! And it keeps me happy too.
