P.J.Here..........
A newbie to the world of photography I decided a few months ago that I needed a "new" hobby. Influenced by many friends (with cameras) made it an easy choice. BUT the dilemma was (or is) that I'm a gearhead who loves the trinkets. So I bought a nice new Canon SX50 HS. Then I accessorized it to the hilt (not much available). Then I bought a tripod. Then I bought a (used) Nikon D7000. Then I accessorized it (to the hilt..$$$$$). Then I purchased several tutorials. Then I discovered FX. Now I'm in the hunt for a D810. Oh yes...all the while shooting, shooting and shooting. I've already done 3 photo-essays ( sailboats, vintage cars, and vehicle design). Can you guess my lifelong hobby attractions?
My bride supports this mania, knowing that when not working (I'm semi-retired) I need to get out of the house. It sure works! And it keeps me happy too.
Welcome to UHH, PJ. Welcome, also, to the world of never ending desires to get stuff.

Welcome P. J.
Just think of all the things that you will learn about on the Hog, and just have to buy. Things you don't even know exist will be in the mail tomorrow!

Welcome to the Hog.
Are you sure you didn't mean
she needs/wants you to get out of the house?
Oh, your lifelong hobbies, I'll go out on a limb and take a WAG at sailboats and cars.
Welcome to the Hog PJ, enjoy.
Welcome to the HOG.
Enjoy.
Welcome to our forum!
Be careful about buying too much. You'll find that you don't need most of it. As for a new camera, consider the D750.
Welcome to the Hog. You already have a serious case of GAS. lol
