If you read the old testament and understand what will happen when the Messiah arrives, and if you believe that Jesus was perhaps the Messiah, then the predictions of the old testament were not delivered. The early Christians recognized that and rather than give up their faith, they wrote a final chapter which predicts a 2nd coming to finally fulfill the predictions of the old testament.

I heard a variant of this one. A Vermonter and a Texan are talking and the Vermont guy talks about his farm says he can get in his car and drive 10 minutes to reach the other end. The Texan says well when I get in my car it takes 10 hours to get to the other end of my spread. The Vermonter says, I sympathize with you-I once had a car that bad.

Aren't we humans terrific. Out of the possible thousands of worlds with intelligent life, he/she came to us and announced his/her presence so we could get down on our knees and worship this narcissitic God who needs our constant devotion to prevent him/her from coming down on us with his/her Godly powers. Do you think he/she is doing this simulltaneously on the multiple worlds with intelligent life stretched all over the universe? Heaven forfend- it is we who are the special favorite of this diety-isn't that the belief of those who worship him/her?

I doubt that any grammar school libraries have pornographic material. They might have some material "soft" on gay, L**T issues but those are cultural and not pornographic. Kids mostly do not see or are exposed to pornographic material until they reach puberty and get their first unrestricted cell phones and you better believe they look at all this stuff. Censoring books out of libraries might make some folks feel religious and justified, but their kids are way ahead of them on the internet.

Both sides left and right have adherents who want to suppress free speech. I think they are about equal.

Dennis you seem to have many strongly held views that are not supported by the facts. The left has about the same percentage of believing adherents in God as does the right. Since the left by nature are less aggresive about their beliefs you take that as opposition to those beliefs. The left is as appalled at the doctrines of the Muslims as the right seems to be. Do you find it interesting that most of the mass shootings are done by folks who profess a devotion to principles espoused by the right???

There are only two possibilities: Either all religions are wrong or they are all wrong except one. The history of humanity is rife with death, wars, torture, mayhem, etc. from the advocates of their religion to prove that theirs is THE ONE.

I raised my children with several unbreakable rules including never get on a motorcycle and never get a tattoo. They never got one and I am very happy about that. Never were they to smoke also.

Tattoo wearers forget that they will age, their skin will change, their weight may change and of course there is differential changes in the depth and quality of the different inks. It is amazing that these things are ignored by a lot of folks.

You should understand that there is NO Soc Sec 'trust fund' After Reagan raised the FICA tax there was a surplus initially of $80 Billion collected. Congress decided to take that and put an IOU in an HHS file. Congress has continued to spend the surplus and add to the IOU pile. As outflow has increased (more retirees) and inflow drops (fewer workers paying in) there will be a reckoning when the outflow exceeds the inflow (sometime in the near 20's). Congress will claim-no problem-use the trust fund. Sorry the trust fund is IOU's. No money there. So Congress in a few years will have the unenviable task of either cutting benefits or increasing the tax. They have kicked this can down the road since Reagan and now will have to answer for it.

You need to look up the meaning of the word 'socialist' Every heard of social security or medicare-both classic socialist ideas. Capitalism is a great system but needs regulation. Just look at the environmental mess in W. Virginia where unchecked capitalism has destroyed great swathes of that state. My objection to Walker is that his brain has been seriously destroyed in football contact. Don't look if he wins for any innovative ideas to come from this brain damaged ex-football player- he will function as a puppet which probably is what you are happy about.
